this is gonna be fun! the girls (minus adrienne :-() are going to come down to the joint (pico and robertson, LA) on wednesday (1/5). we're actually going to try to get them to do a short, casual set, with some of us making up for jojo, then happenin' harry and the haptones (i usually play guitar and sing) will finish out the night, preferably with the girls sitting in, also... as for girls, we happen (haptones, lol) to have a 22/23 yo pair of amazing japanese sisters on bass and guitar- we may just get them sitting in with the maidens...
the whole idea is casual- to see the girls as players, not a production. we have a lot of fun, and there is some real good playing. come on down! ;-)
hope to see you there!

just talked to happenin' harry- he pointed out, in addition, we may be expecting guests from the brides of destruction, wasp, the murderdolls and who knows...? as i said- it's gonna be fun!

We had such a lovely time doing this at The Joint that we might have to do it again! There was fun to be had by all. We did a short 8 song set and had the pleasure of having various musicians sit in: Ernie Manriquez from LA's UFO tribute, Light's Out, sat in on bass for The Trooper, Jon Helpingstine from LA's Iron Maiden tribute, Powerslave, sat in on bass for Flight of Icarus and Happenin' Harry sang some mean vocals on Runnin' Free . And of course, we can't forget about Michael Kenney ~ he once again graced us with his presence but this time on guitar. We had originally had a few more guitarists scheduled to sit in with us but found out at the last minute that they couldn't make it....so Michael helped us out by learning the whole set in about an hour and a half before the show(yikes!)...and he pulled it off! That was pretty amazing.
The only bummer about this night was that it was put on with very short notice and many people wanted to come who couldn't ..so maybe we can convince Harry to do it again. :)

Happenin' Harry's Wednesday nights at The Joint are one of LA's best kept little secrets. I know week nights can be a little tough for some of you since you have to work the next day (bleh). However, I highly recommend checking it out anyway. Life is too short to not make the most of it. ;)

For most of their set I was the entire front row, the benefit being that I could move left and right to be in front of whoever was doing the most interesting thing at the time. Plus it seemed like a private show just for me, as long as I didn't look backwards.
