hello my fellow metal friends!

well im in a bit of a tough situation..as many of you know, working sucks, but anyway i will say my problem.

well work sucks, its boring, the other staff are assholes towards me, the customers are the rudest most ignorant fucks i have ever met in my life and im just plain sick of it. A customer service job is defiently not for me, quite simply im quite shy and im not a big fan of 'talking'  , well to people you dont know anyway!. My boss is really cool though, so i dont really want to quit because he is a cool dude, and plus i need the fuckin money. But i feel like im just getting abused all the time from the other staff members, it fuckin sucks, and i dont know what to do..any help?

look for other work you know you will love.
I know I am.
--------------------

yeah i am, but where i live the fields are kind of limited. my number one passion is music and no one gives a fuck about real metal around here. I started this job to try and save up enough money to move to Melbourne, so i can have a better chance at doing something i love, but its working out

I told my co-worker yesturday if a job ever came up in any music store even HMV I would go for it and low and behold there are jobs going at HMV here in the city..I could walk to wrk in 15mins.So I am applying after wrk 2morrow.

Mate, i think most people have had a job at some stage in their adult life that they've hated. I certainly have. Ultimately though...we work for money don't we? I mean, if money didn't exist, and we didn't need to pay for food, shelter, clothing etc etc we'd all be doing exactly what we want. Like, id be a friggin' astraonaut if I could....

BUT reality is that most of us 'want' something, or want a certain situation. And to get what we want, usually costs money, one way or another. So maybe you need to view your current job as a sacrifice to get to be where you want. But while you are there, why not make it less painful. Instead of seeing it as a pain in the arse....why not try to grow from the experience, talking to people ain't that bad.....if you're boss is really cool, why not talk to him about how you could make the job more enjoyable for you, which in turn would make you a more valuable employee. After all a happy worker is a productive worker.

Anyways, i could ramble on forever. BUT remember this, your situation is what you make it, so try and be positive and im sure you will see positive change. If you dont have success with a different outllook, then quit........life is too short to be miserable.

Best of luck to you. :)

I'd talk to your boss if you're comfortable talking about this sort of thing to him. At my old job I hated it so much that I couldn't even think about just changing departments, which is a pity because my boss offered me what could potentially have been a very high-paying job if I stayed... but I had had enough and wanted out.

It's easy enough to say "Look for work you know you'll love", but much harder to actually do that. And it's easy to say that you should just learn to enjoy what you're doing, but sticking it out just isn't healthy at all.

So, Haupassia old buddy old pal, talk to your boss. Say that you have some issues, maybe he can suggest something which will be a godsend. He might give you his blessing to move on to greener pastures, or at least a different department with different staff members (I don't know if this is possible or not as you haven't actually stated what you do - you don't work in superannuation by any chance? It sure sounds like it! :) ). DON'T JUST SIT THERE AND BOTTLE IT ALL IN AND WAIT FOR SOMETHING TO HAPPEN. That's just not healthy.

No idea if that's a help at all. :)

heh - and they would even play Bon Jovi every once in a while at HMV :)

Well the interviews most likely will be after next Monday so the new album most likely will be playing when I go for my interview. i know one of the questions on their form is who is your fav. band:lol:

When I transferred to a different store when I moved cities, at first I found everyone were a bunch of cockheads, but i get along with everyone now, It's an easy situation, go to the pub with em. I guarentee they are different people out of work. They are probably pissed off all the time, because as you said, the customers are arseholes, they are stressed and stuff, get a few beers into em and they'll lighten up and get to know you.

worked for me.

I actually had a very cool job one year when I was in uni back in NZ. A second hand record shop :)

It was great - the boss only stocked metal/rock/alternative/blues (3 outta 4 aint bad) since that is all that sold in that town. I loved it - no dance music :headbang:

The boss was also really cool - he had like a sawn off baseball bat under the counter. he said that if anyone came in and started to get agro I could pull that out and tell them to ..... you get the idea ;)

I worked at a newsagency once, and we had a machete under the counter, if anyone asked, it was cutting up newspapers and stuff like that. Then they sacked me.

I used to wrk for Ashwoods here in Sydney ( selling second hand records, cds, books) I loved the job but hated the sexist freak who bought the business after I had been wrking there for about 8mths so I quit. We too had a baseball bat under the counter.

Where in QLD you at mate, what makes the jobs so limited

i live in North Queensland, 100km south of Townsville. Where i live we have about 3000 people, and the town relies on the sugar industry. If the sugar industry is shit, the shops make no money so therefore they dont employ anyone. i hate everything about this fuckin place dude.....im tired...buh bye

Yeah - for sure :)

All his accomodation worries would be sorted then. A bed, a roof, security, and a big cell mate that wants to become real friendly
