Hey folks! After posting this thread and this other too, here's something from Aaron again, but this time more Brutal for sure :)

After waking up at 6AM and driving 300 miles to get to the studio, after setting up the kit, warming up and playing fifteen tracks, our drummer still managed to play this incredibly demanding tune in one take at late night. You can see the tiredness in his face, but apparently that wasn't enough to knock him out :D

I think Aaron really outdid himself with this, adding incredible punch while keeping the in-room factor intact. He didn't overprocess it, you can actually hear when the drummer is doing the heel-toe technique or just single strokes, which is very cool imho.

You can listen to a drums-only version at this link:

Hope you like it guys! :headbang:

Fantastic stuff!

Any insight into the processing techniques on this Aaron? m/

Great snare!

I don't know much about the snare, but reguarding the kick, he preserved the higher frequencies "click" attack of the original kick, while adding some beef with samples. Retaining the "click" was quite difficult since the mic'd kick was very dull sounding (we had a trigger too, and to make sure there wasn't any mistriggering at that speed, we had to put all kinds of stuff inside the kick drum).
He just preferred to work on the mic'd kick instead of the triggered one, to have a more realistic kick tone that blends better with the video, and I definitely agree with this choice.

jesus fucking christ, ONE TAKE?
This is the kind of drummer you can hang up on your living room wall and tell everybody he's actually a nuclear clock.

All the tracks we recorded and filmed, both our stuff and covers, were one take. It was the first time he was using that kit (he just uses a way smaller one for rehearsals and gigs) so he wasn't 100% at home with it, but still pwned :kickass:

I agree with all the good stuff everybody said, no need to repeat them.

Ok, I will only repeat that the gravity blasts are astonishingly tight.

holy cow that was great!
I agree, keep that drummer at all costs.
he even got the double stroke technique down!

Glad you noticed :) I don't know how he manages to, but he does it with very little effort. Might not look as brootz as singles but it's the best for efficiency imho. Take a look at 0:21
