Abominatrix is an intense metal band from NY. This band combines heavy guitar riffs, earth shaking bass lines, mind blowing drums, and brutal female vocals.

Abominatrix was offically formed in January 2004. We include x-members of Dissolve, Darling Demoniac, Devil May Care, and Mouth Of Disaster. Four musical influences converge to form the sound of the apocalyse, the epitome of power and brutal sensory-assulting madness.

Female bassists? thats all women ever seem to play, bass.
Or keyboards.... ;)

Arch Enemy are different though.....they didn't start out with a chick singer, and don't market their band based on the fact they have a chick singer.

on another note: I'M RICK JAMES, BITCH!!

Amaran destroys your band.

Also, any band that brags about how "brutal" or "power"-ful they are sucks by default. If you came on here and said, "Hey, I've got a band. We're influended by (insert inflences). Anyone care to give us a listen?" would have worked more to your benefit than acting as though you're advertising a fucking tractor pull.

100% Agreed.

It doesn't matter how many lame analogy's and catch-phrases you come up with to describe your band, it's not going to magically persuade people you're any good, as it gives no indication at all of what the music's like.
Every fucking band is "brutal" these days. The word has become redundant.

but Chopstick....brutal is about all you seem to care about anyway... :err:
uhhh....no it isn't, pal. I don't know where you got that idea.

In my books, when referring to something as "brutal" you're talking about bands like Devourment, Suffocation, Brodequin, Dying Fetus blah blah blah
ie:"Brutal death metal"
I hate that stuff. It's fucking boring. Other than a couple of "death/grind" bands, I listen to basically no death metal at all, especially not that "broodledeathslam" burpcore shit. I don't like CoDC either.....

I mainly listen to grind/grindcore/goregrind/porngrind/whatever-you-wanna-call-it grind, which is not about being the most brutal, or most technical band around. (To me) It's about quality songwriting. Good grind bands write songs that are catchy, memorable and composed well enough to make interesting songs within the confines of a fairly limited genre. Production is also a big factor. Rather than a crystal clear (sterile) production, like a lot of death metal bands, it's important for grind (and particularly gore and porn grind) to have a suitably raw/harsh production, which compliments the feel of the music. For example, pure screamy grindcore is best with a sharp, cutting guitar sound (ie. Ulcerrhoea), whereas good goregrind should have a sloppier, muddy sound to give it that nasty, fresh-from-the-morgue feeling (ie. Neuro-Visceral Exhumation). Geddit?

The "More Brutal Than Chuck Norris" in my sig is a joke. As you should know, Chuck Norris is far from brutal.

Ok, gotcha.

I don't really see the point in pure grind myself. I like some of the catchier bands, but as you say, the genre is stylistically limited, and it's because of that that I don't really find any quantity. One band writing very short, noisy, but catchy songs to me is pretty much the same as another band doing similar. That really is just taste though, I can understand why some would say the same of death metal, although I do sincerely believe there is more variety and flexibility in brutal death metal than grind.
