Aborym – With No Human Intervention
code666 Code015 2003
By Russell Garwood

Aborym – ice-cold, pitch-black, industrial-metal, maybe? However you label the band, one thing is undisputed – they are at the cutting edge of metal today. Frenzied programmed drums incessantly batter under mechanized, caustic guitars, grating vocals and well integrated electronics. With occasional nods to gabber and other extreme electronic elements, as well as more run-of-the-mill techno, Aborym have an eclectic sound, demonstrated to the full on this multi-faceted album. The line-up for this release features Fabban (programming, bass, synths, keys), Seth Teitan (programming, guitars, sampling) and Nysrok (programming, guitars, synths and keys) and the distinctive vocals of Attila Cishar.

Guest contributions from Bård Eithun, Nattefrost (Carpathian Forest), Irrumator (Anaal Nathrakh, Frost, Mistress), Matt Jerman (Void/OCD) and Sasrof (Diabolicum) mean that “With No Human Intervention” utilizes the talents of some of the most (in)famous members of the black metal scene. As ever, from code666, not only the music is excellent; the 6-panel digipack also contains an epk video, “With No Hum@n Intervention”, the entire album in high quality MP3 format, and a bonus non-album track.

“With No Human Intervention” is definitely not a release for traditionalists; whether from the malice-filled electronics of “Does Not Compute” to the ever-changing epic “The Triumph”, the music is an unforgiving, innovative and eye opening journey. With a diverse sound, Aborym’s music could be enjoyed by most extreme metal fans, as well as those into industrial and harsher electronica. Just one word of advice, however - leave all your preconceptions at the door.
