Accept Vs Running Wild

I know Bryant is going to hung me for this but I can't stand Udo's vocals so I never got into Accept. As for Running Wild I love the first two albums, but then the whole piracy theme came and frankly Rock'n'Rolf vocals are not astounding either, still the debut it's a must be in any collection.

I like Accept better, although not much more than Running Wild. It's pointless to compare such great tho...
RW's holy trinity consisting of Under Jolly Roger, Port Royal and Death Or Glory is some of the finest HM around. Same goes for Accept from I'm a Rebel to Objection Overruled (with the exception being Eat The Heat)...

I am not big into RW, but they aren't bad. I am a 110% Accept fanboy though and have been since I first heard them about 25 years ago. To this day, I consider Wolf Hoffmann (Accept's former guitarist) my all-time favorite guitarist.
I won't be too harsh on Brother Vern because when I first heard Accept, had I not immediately fell in ove with the guitar work, I might not have ever become a fan. I didn't care for Udo's vocals at all, but I got used to them, then grew to love them and to this day consider him one of the best vocalists around. I suppose in short.... I have to go with Accept.

I 'm surprised that most of you mention your dislike of Udo's voice. Of course he is not the best singer around, but without him there is not Accept. Period!

Udo's voice is a trademark of the Accept sound. If they had started with another vocalist it is 100% sure that they wouldn't be so big. And it is almost sure that they wouldn't play the ultimate heavy metal we listen to their albums, even with a guitarist and composer of the talent of Wolf Hoffman.

As you understand, my vote goes to Accept, one of the few ultimate heavy metal bands ever. Along with Judas Priest, Manowar, Iron Maiden, Saxon and, of course, Running Wild (the trilogy that SickBoy mentioned, along with Black Hand Inn is unbeatable).

PS: Hawk, if you can add in the thread a poll with these two choices, it would be interesting. :)

Udo got most intresting voice in Heavy Metal. Sometime it reminds me of ac/dc. And running wild is offcours creat band but I have only 3 albums and haven´t seen them live. But anyway ACCEPT got my blood running for more.:kickass:

I agree to an extent. I think less the rythm guitarist, no member of Accept could be replaced. They were greater than the sum of their parts and Udo was no exception. I also disagree with the other poster that compared Udo to Brian johnson. I like Brian and he was good at what he did, ala screaming in key, but Udo worked his ass off to get the unique type of delivery he gave in accept's heyday. You can compare very early Accept to their prime and hear that. Whether you like him or not, the guy WORKED to get the style he brought us.

Yes Udo has a very interesting voice. I am like you as well. My blood always pumps hard when I listen to accept. !! :headbang: :headbang: :headbang: :headbang:

Accept. Metal doesn't get much better than Restless & Wild, Balls..., and (especially) Metal Heart, IMO.

Hmmm..... you really like "Metal Heart" that much ? I typically find fans that prefer BttW or RaW more. Though I love many of their releases close to equally, I find MH to be their masterpiece !! "Too High to get it Right" is one of the best songs ever written.

Oh yeah, man. Metal Heart is definitely my favorite. I was first turned on to them when a friend played Fast as a Shark for me, so R&W is a close second. But there is something about MH that pumps me up as well....maybe because we are the same age...I'm exactly 4 months older than you. Totally a top 20 album all-time for me.

I just remember driving to high school (junior year) and listening to Metal Heart just about every morning. My friend and I used to air guitar that pick slide in Midnight Mover (You better use......your brain!) by dragging our imaginary picks across the length of the dashboard of my car! :headbang:

Accept by far... Running Wild never wrote a single song that could grab my interest. They were some kind of founders of the earlier German happy metal scene I guess.
Accept were much heavier, faster, more Metal !!

I have to agree with you there buddy. :) But only for the first 3 albums. After that I lost interest.

I dont think your drinking your beers right, dude. There's some serious headbanging classics in their discog. Yes, Running Wild are great fun but I really wouldnt say they are happy metal:zombie:

I love both these bands, equally, I cannot pick one over the other.

I like 'em both, but I will go with Running Wild. But Seriously, I don't know why people hype Death or Glory. That was an average album in my opinion.

Blazen Stone, Pile of Skulls and ESPECIALLY Blackhand Inn are their masterpieces. I get all pumped up by songs like Genesis and Phantom of Blackhand Inn.
