Acoustic Guitar Recommedations

My Dad bought a Maton recently and it was probably the best acoustic/electric I've ever played. Not sure how much they go for in Canada, but try one out if you can, they are amazing.

Meh, never been that crazy about the sound of Ovations (possibly owing to the plastic back :loco: ) but they definitely feel great! And as for acoustics, check out Alvarez, good value IMO

I've liked the Taylor's that I've tried. They have a couple models that are under a grand that sound pretty good IMHO.

If you're looking to saved some cash, get a Mitchell. I know, it's Mitchell, that's what I said too. I couldn't believe the sound this thing produced and for the price, you can't go wrong. I walked out of GC with this guitar for 150. It's an electric-acoustic but I just record it with a standard condenser mic. If you'd like, I can post some raw audio samples of it. If you're looking for brand name, then Taylor won't do you wrong.

With acoustic guitars, you HAVE to take a day or two to just get out to all of your local stores and actually PLAY every guitar you can afford. All guitars, but especially acoustics, can vary greatly even among identical models. You can pull 10 different Martin D28s or Taylor 414s (or whatever) off the wall and they will all sound a little different.

Get out there and play everything you can. There will definitely be one or two guitars that will stand out, and they might not be the ones you would have gone for in the first place.

Godin make such ridiculous value for money guitars, I'm surprised I forgot to mention them.
