Tornano gli Addiction Crew e proseguono nel loro percorso di 'imborghesimento' del suono, verso lidi piu' commerciali e gestibili dalle masse. La matrice e' ancora la loro, fatta di solide basi che flirtano fra nu metal e rock modernista. Alcuni riff richiamano ricordi lontani degli anni di inizio millennio, quando chitarre ribassate e doppia cassa costruivano ritmiche all'unisono. Anche se i trascorsi nei deathsters Electrocution del chitarrista Alex Guadagnoli sono ormai molto lontani, una componente metallica continua a resistere strenuamente.
Ma sopra ogni strumento, oggi piu' che mai, si erge la voce di Marta Innocenti, che duetta con lo stesso Alex in alcuni ritornelli. Un approccio commerciale che puo' aprire le porte di Mtv, grazie anche ad un'ottima produzione - forse un po' troppo laccata - ma che rischi di allontanare inevitabilmente i fan della prima ora. Senza considerare che, anche nelle parti piu' melodiche, e' difficile incontrare un ritornello o una strofa veramente indimenticabile. Dategli comunque un ascolto.

Recensione di Maurizio "Morrizz" Borghi Pochi personaggi nel mondo dell'heavy italiano sono riusciti a riciclarsi come Alex Guadagnoli: protagonista negli ottimi Electrocution, il chitarrista/cantante andò clamorosamente vicino ad essere il nuovo cantante dei Sepultura, per fondare successivamente gli Addiction 96, trasformatisi poi in Addiction-e-basta e successivamente in Addiction Crew. Quest'ultima incarnazione, seguita da innumerevoli stravolgimenti di formazione, vede sotto i riflettori la bella cantante Marta Innocenti, in una versione modern metal dei Lacuna Coil che strizza l'occhio alle classifiche e alle "hottest chicks in metal". Se gli In This Moment hanno dimostrato che un'overdose di Photoshop e Pro-Tools è sufficiente a finire sul palco dell'Ozzfest... perché non provarci? Ma veniamo a parlare di "Lethal", una raccolta formalmente impeccabile, che risulta da subito appetibile, ben arrangiata, moderna e lineare nella sua essenziale assimilabilità, un disco di pop metal da consumare appena aperta la busta perché, anche conservato in frigo, non può durare molto. Per non fraintendersi, brani come "Target", "The Reason You Can't Sleep" o "Shove" possono far gola a MTV con riff ribassati e martellanti, casse triggerate e la voce di Marta facile ed abile protagonista, il problema è lo spessore minimo dei brani, che ne determina inevitabilmente la longevità. Unico palese scivolone è la strofa rappata di "To The Core", impolverata e tragicamente fuori luogo, un calco dei Linkin Park che furono che è troppo marcato anche per gli appassionati delle sonorità "nu". Per fortuna il disco si chiude con il pezzo migliore dell'album, quella "Surrounded" che mostra il lato più heavy della band e dà modo a Marta di sfoggiare tutte le sue qualità vocali. A questo punto è naturale chiedersi: perché rimanere intrappolati nelle rigidità radiofoniche quando si può fare di più? Voto: 6.5

Despite some success in Japan, the band sold 10.000 copies of their album 'Break In Life' (2005), the band was not satisfied by the promotion by Earache Records and the quintet broke up with the record company.
At 'Break This Life' the band was nothing different than a skinny Linkin Park clone. The band has removed itself further from that sound and the whole sounds just a little more firm, although the connection with nu-metal is still there. The music is being directed by a thick layer of American rock and nu-metal; and the largely used electronics and hard rock influences the twelve tracks holds a lot of similarities with Skillet. But I can also imagine that comparisons with bands as Linkin park, Papa Roach and even maybe Evanescence will be made. At the previous album vocalist Maria Innocenti was present for the first time, but we did not hear a lot from here at that point. Here presence is much stronger this time around and that certainly is a good point. When it comes to vocals the band should fully rely on their female vocalist as the male shouter has a voice that is too average to be intriguing.
The whole album has been composed better than 'Break In Life'(2005), although I have to say that also this 'Lethal' is full of smooth, simple, easy accessible rock/nu-metal songs, piece by piece written according the couplet refrain principle. With an average length of just three minutes each song you would expect the intensity to crack from the tracks, but the quartet totally goes for accessibility. The band itself talks about aggressiveness and energy but all I hear come by are easy to get to sing-alongs and smooth melodies.
Despite the twelve songs being well structured, the album really holds no single moment where it stands out. The surprise is not there and the album silently goes by. Perhaps that you can recognise your music taste in the things above and deeply embraces the accessibility, but this release is not one I enjoyed for a single moment.

Addiction Crew from Italy is a modern metal band with a female as main vocalist. But do not expect another gothic metal band you dont need, this is rock n roll with balls.

Kurz und prägnant. "Lethal", nennt sich der Nachfolger vom 2004 Album "Break In Life", welches in den verschiedensten Ländern, u.a. Belgien, Japan und ihrem Heimatland Italien, überraschend hohe Charterfolge einheimsen konnte. Auch auf ihrem neuen Album geht die Band um Frontfrau Marta Innocenti mit kräftigem Crossover nach vorn und bietet ihren Hörern eine alles andere als ermüdende Auswahl an Titeln, die diverse Musikstile streifen, sich einzelne Elemente wie beispielsweise Rap oder elektronische Klänge zu eigen machen und diese mit dem Addiction Crew-Stil kombinieren.
"Tödlich", so der Albumtitel übersetzt, ertönen die zwölf Titel zwar nicht, aber mit ihren Zutaten an Experimentierfreude, Melodie, den rockig/metallastigen Sounds, der Kombination aus weichen wie auch härteren Parts und dem Wechsel,- beziehungsweise Sprachgesang können die Vier von Addiction Crew ein durchaus solides, annehmbares Grundgerüst für ihre Songs vorweisen. Aber auch das nötige Potenzial, um wieder ein paar Titel in den Charts unterzubringen und somit an die vorangegangenen Erfolge anzuknüpfen.
Die gut sortierte und zusammengestellte Tracklist ermöglicht es, sich auf die wechselnden Stimmungen einzulassen und schafft immer wieder gelungene Übergänge von den aggressiveren, härteren (The Reason You Can't Sleep; Along The Way; Sorrounded) zu den langsameren (Make A Sense; Hangin' In The Air), melodischeren Nummern. Das einzige, eventuelle, Manko am neuen Album ist allerdings, dass die Lieder nicht alle sofort zünden und einige viel Zeit zum Entwickeln brauchen, so dass man als Nicht-AC-Fan Geduld für mehrmalige Durchläufe mitbringen und beim Kauf genauer hinhören sollte. Insgesamt machen das italienische Quartett und "Lethal" einen guten, weiterentwickelten Eindruck und sich damit für Crossover-Hörer empfehlenswert.

Lethal" degli Addiction Crew è a mio avviso tutt'altro che letale, trattasi infatti di un disco che potrebbe tranquillamente passare per radio e venire ascoltato senza problemi da un grande numero di persone. Sebbene le note allegate al promo descrivano questa musica come "modern metal" mi pare che più che altro in questo caso si possa parlare di un rock moderno un po' più pesante del normale, ma comunque sempre molto orecchiabile e ricco di strizzate d'occhio al pop. I dodici brani di cui è composto "Lethal" sono tutti molto ruffiani e scorrono bene durante l'ascolto, tuttavia nessuno di essi mi pare in grado di lasciare veramente il segno.
L'ultima fatica degli Addiction Crew può quindi tranquillamente venire ascoltata durante un viaggio in macchina e, se adeguatamente promossa, potrebbe anche piazzare un singolo in radio, tuttavia non credo che ve ne ricorderete a lungo.

Addiction Crew - Lethal (Albumi) Italialainen Addiction Crew on reilun kymmenen vuoden uransa aikana saanut purkitettua neljä albumia, joista uusin saapui kesän aikana. Alussa olin ihmeissäni tämän albumin sisällön kanssa, sillä levy sai aikaan melkoisia assosiaatioita menneiden aikojen pomppumetallin suuntaan. Sehän on genre, jota on varsin muodikasta halveksua ja syyttää kuolleeksi. Teidän kaikkien sormella osoittelijoiden iloksi voin todeta, että ainakin tämän albumin ajaksi pomput on kaivettu naftaliinista.
Yhtyeen eduksi on laskettava häpeilemätön flirttailu menneiden aikojen kanssa, mutta samalla myös pettämätön melodiataju. Tosin ei noista 90-luvun loppupuolen ajoista nyt niin pitkää aikaa ole kulunut. Ehkä kukaan ei ole uskaltanut tehdä muuta kuin haukkua? Addiction Crew kuitenkin osaa oman asiansa. Päällimmäisenä tällä paketilla ovat melodiat, joilla kappalemateriaaliin saadaan ajoittain eloa varsin paljon. Samoin vokalisti Maria Innocenti luo materiaaliin ehdottomasti lisää kiinnostusarvoa, vaikka italialaisen neitokaisen ääntäminen ei täydellistä olekaan. Se on kuitenkin huomattavasti parempaa kuin monella vastaavalla yleensä. Suurin osa levyn kappaleista toimii pääosin vahvan laulumelodiansa ansiosta. Osa jopa odotettua paremmin, mutta sekaan mahtuu myös pari heppoisempaa sävellystä. Esimerkiksi Ride on Liars on junnaava ja valitettavan kulmikas. Hanging in the Air puolestaan kompastuu slovarin korkeaan kynnykseen. To the Core taas sisältää taustajoukkojen räpäytystä, joka saa aikaan melkoisen myötähäpeän. Mainittuja kappaleita lukuun ottamatta materiaali on kuitenkin varsin toimivaa ja kelvollista. Ei tätä levyä kovinkaan useasti voi soittimessaan pyöritellä, mutta se toimii pienissä annoksissa hyvän tuulen tuojana. Ja totta kai kaunis nainen mikin varressa on aina omiaan miellyttämään.

Of course everybody knows a story about a band that was on a bigger record label that didnt have enough time or finance to promote the band properly. Well this is also the case with Addiction Crew from Italy. A few years ago they where picked up by Earache but after their release of Break The Life, which reached big proportions in Japan, they couldn´t give Addiction Crew the attention to promote the band properly.
Aural Music, which is the current record label of Addiction Crew, is willing to promote the album Lethal in a different way. Aware of the need to keep up with the changing times they decided to give priority to the digital marketing of the album. All the tracks on the album will be made available on several download sites such as iTunes, Napster, Emusic and many more.
Lethal, which is the title of the latest album of Addiction Crew starts with the title track. After several seconds its pretty obvious theyre aiming for the commercial side of metal. With a slick sound and production, where every instrument has precisely enough room not to overwhelm anything else, they made a safe impression on me. Especially when they use keyboards as a nice background filler. If we leave the slick production behind we do see several well balanced tracks that are indeed very catchy. Especially the powerful voice of Marta Innocenti is an extra contribution to these songs because she is not blown away in the heavier parts of the songs.
Of course there are always people that are judging anybody who is only thinking of doing something commercial. On the other hand, arent those also the bands that keep the scene going for such a long time? I mean if Metallica didnt sell-out with their black album a lot of people wouldnt know anything of metal, let alone listen to it. Well, in the end Addiction Crew came up with a decent album thats full of Nu metal, Nu rock, Crossover or whatever youd like to call it. Its full of songs that are catchy, easy to sing along with and all of them have the same good slick production.

I mean if Metallica didnt sell-out with their black album a lot of people wouldnt know anything of metal, let alone listen to it. Well, in the end Addiction Crew came up with a decent album thats full of Nu metal, Nu rock, Crossover or whatever youd like to call it. Its full of songs that are catchy, easy to sing along with and all of them have the same good slick production.

O facto de se ter passado um atestado de óbito ao nu-metal há bastante tempo parece não ter afectado as convicções dos italianos Addiction Crew, de modo algum. Formados numa altura em que o nu-metal explodia, em 1996, os Addiction Crew trilharam um percurso marcado por um som rock/metal orelhudo e acessível o suficiente para lhes valer várias subidas a tops europeus e japoneses.
Volvidos dois álbuns, três com este Lethal, este quarteto de Bolonha viu-se privado de alguns elementos e viu entrar sangue novo no seu organismo. Aparentemente os propósitos não mudaram muito particularmente o de manter um som bastante susceptível a infiltrações massificadas mas a cadência rappada das vocalizações que marcou a identidade da banda até então perdeu clara preponderância. Actualmente, os Addiction Crew parecem abertos a riffs mais pesados e directos, mas mantendo sempre uma conjuntura de composição virada para as canções. Melodia a rodos brota do meio de ritmos groovy, simples [é verdade] mas contagiantes e a grande atracção dos Addiction Crew continua, sem dúvida, a ser a voz de Marta Innocenti que, para além do seu meio palmo" de cara, dispõe, realmente, de uma boa voz, quente e muito açucarada muito ao jeito das artistas R&B da actualidade.
Se, por outro lado, os Addiction Crew escreveram os seus riffs mais pesados até à data com Lethal mesmo assim muito longe de roçar o violento a face baladesca da banda também vem ao de cima. Mas verdade seja dita que Make A Sense e Hagin In The Air com a suavidade dos seus pianos, violas acústicas e até loops revelam que os Addiction Crew conhecem muito bem os terrenos que pisam e como exercitar a sua criatividade nessa área.
No fundo, o único problema de uma banda com o seu cariz é perceber a potencialidade da sua validade e longevidade numa altura em que estão deslocados dos actuais índices de interesse do mercado Metal. [7/10] N.C.
