Advice recording with OD808

Hey!

I´m gonna record some guitars with a OD808 in front to use with a ampsim, what is the best way for you to do this?

guitar>od808>DI>FastTrack USB Mic input

guitar>od808>FastTrack USB Line input

guitar>od808>FastTrack USB Instrument input

Option 3 would make the most sense to me. Option 1 is exactly the same with an extra unnecessary step and option 2 won't work properly. The mic input is low impedence and a guitar signal is high impedence, so the DI will bring the impedence down to mic level, whereas the instrument input is already high impedence to match the guitar, so you have less in your chain that way and a more pure signal going into your FastTrack. Give it a shot and post a clip or two!

I thought the first one was the best cus I read somewhere in the forum that we should use a DI for more pure signal going into the soundcard.

Well you're right that a DI is more pure, but the instrument input on your interface is a DI so that solves that. However, not all DI's are created equal, so try options 1 and 3.
