Agalloch

They are my second favorite band, right below Pain of Salvation. The Mantle is an amazing album, damn near perfect ... if not actually perfect.

Pale Folklore is also an amazing album.

I have The Mantle.
The lyrics are extremely great, but sadly the music is not nearly as good.
This folk-rock-pop is the most overrated thing i ever saw on this forum despite the great lyrics.

What the fuck? Folk and rock sure, but pop? I don't see it.

Never clicked with me... for folk influenced metal, I'll take Primordial and Drudkh over Agalloch any day.

Great band, but i'm not to fond of the clean vocals. When a clean voice is good enough that means the band could drop the growls if they wanted to and it would be ok.

Opeth cleans have gotten a lot better over the years so I think maybe in the future the cleans in agalloch might actually be significant or sound good. They're kinda in the same boat as older opeth and older katatonia. It's like insignificant moaning without power or range, and you wonder why the bands even bothered putting them in a song.

pop...yea, agalloch is following in the footsteps of N'Sync

The pop thing is maybe not 100% reasonable.
What i wanted to say is that i can't find anithing moving in Agalloch's music except the music. It sounds quite shallow and boring (although i love for example Ulver's Kveldssanger), and it is not especially heavy, neither emotionally, nor musically, nor in the sense that it might be difficult to get into because of too much folk -maybe that's why the term pop came to my mind.
If everyone likes them, have fun, but i was really disappointed by The Mantle.
