Hi guys!
I have been using my old AKG K300 headphones for ages now and I quite like them but they already have some problems with the drivers. So I'm thinking of buying some new headphones. I need them mostly for mixing/mastering. I know that monitors are better for the purpose, I had been using some in the past, but my room at the moment has awful acoustic and to buy monitors would be pointless.
I've read hell of a lot on the internet and now I'm wondering between AKG K601 and AKG K701/K702. K701 and K702 are basically the same model, the only difference is the color and the fact that K702 has detachable cable. AKG K601 and K701 are very simillar. Looking in the specifications the only difference is the impedance - 120ohms (K601) and 62ohms (K701). K701 is the more expensive model, but I'm not sure if it's a lot better. If I have plenty of money, I'll get K701 right away, but the price difference is pretty big here in Europe. I can get K601 brand new with 3 years warranty and everything for 180$ and for K701/2 second hand I have to give about 260$ at least, a new one is above 300$.
So what do you think? Is K701/2 worth the money?
