album versus demos

I have been listening to the new album for the last couple of days off and on now. I like it a lot. Especially the new songs like Sun Caged, Soil, Hollow and Unchanging.

However I had to get used to the new production of songs that were available on the demos. Like Sedation. I've just played the demo again and it sounds real good. Very energetic. So what has improved on the album version?

Help me to compare the two.

I said something about sedation's album production. A bit weird, sounds somewhat slower (maybe just an impression), and the vocals sound a bit recessed in the background. I like both but really prefer the demo version!
The other songs are just better.
Btw, I'm curious to hear the album version of Four Guilders, was it re-recorded and thus re-produced?

I received the album today and so far I must say that I liked the Secrets of flight demo better than the album version. IMO it's a little overdone compared to the demo, especially keyboards-wise. Though I really like the new keyboards solo in the intro (more power), I don't like all the other keyboard sounds. I also think it's a bit annoying that there's alot of reverb during the verses.
I've only heard it a few times though, but I must admit that I was a little bit disappointed because this was (is) one of my fav SC songs...

On the other hand, I think that the album version of Closing In rocks! So much better than the demo version!

Congrats on the album guys! It sounds really good (yes, even Secrets of Flight :p ) and I'm sure that I will like it even more after a few more listens... Keep up the good work and I hope seeing you guys in Belgium some time soon! :D
