Video footage of guitarist Alex Skolnick (TESTAMENT, ALEX SKOLNICK TRIO), bassist Rudy Sarzo (Geoff Tate's QUEENSRŸCHE, OZZY OSBOURNE, DIO, WHITESNAKE, QUIET RIOT) and pedal steel guitarist Robert Randolph jamming on the Peavey main stage at this year's NAMM (National Association Of Music Merchants) show, which took place January 23-26 at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California, can be seen below.Skolnick's book, "Geek To Guitar Hero", is available on paperback via Amazon.Alex Skolnick is a true guitar hero. At sixteen years old, he joined a group of twenty-somethings who'd formed a thrash metal band called TESTAMENT. Alex stayed with the band through five critically acclaimed albums and countless tours with, among others, SLAYER, MEGADETH, JUDAS PRIEST and WHITE ZOMBIE. After hearing and seeing one of Miles Davis' electric bands on TV, Alex relocated to New York City to play and study jazz. ALEX SKOLNICK TRIO (AST) was formed while Alex was earning his BFA in jazz from New School University in Manhattan. AST has been lauded by critics, fans and musical heroes alike ranging from Downbeat to Jazziz to the Village Voice to Kirk Hammett of METALLICA.During a 2012 interview with Ultimate Classic Rock, Sarzo revealed that he was no longer a touring member of BLUE ÖYSTER CULT. "Due to my scheduling with other projects that I'm doing, it became a little bit hard for me to keep a really solid working schedule with BLUE ÖYSTER CULT, so we amicably, we just basically parted ways," Sarzo said. "So they can actually find somebody who can devote more time to the band and I can actually pursue other bands that I'm doing." Sarzo's other projects include the Japanese anime-inspired project ANIMETAL USA, the official Ronnie James Dio tribute band DIO DISCIPLES and his ongoing duties with the Rock 'N' Roll Fantasy Camp.
