Hey guys,

Yesterday I got bored so I decided to track an easy song for some mixing practice. I decided to do something a lot less metal and cover this pop-punk classic.
It turned out okay and I had a lot of fun mixing it, so I figured I'd share it with you all.

I plan on adding vocals at a later date when I can get my band's vocalist around. For now, everything else is in there.

Here is my reference mix (yes, I know, its way too metal sounding)

Tempo is 148bpm - 4/4 all the way through (of course!)
Guitar is an Ibanez RGD321 with a Bare Knuckle Nailbomb in the bridge.
Bass is a cheap Squier Jazz Bass, completely stock.
In my version, I reamped with a 5150iii.

Have fun with it!

awesome cover! a breath of fresh air compared to the usual metal songs :D

Yeah man, I figured we need other genres to practice mixing with. That being said, my mix still sounds overly metal haha.

Anyway, nice mix man. Drums sound great, but might be a good idea to pan the hi-hat to make things feel a little more 3D. Also, it'd be cool to have the bass cut through a little more in the top-end perhaps? The bass I recorded with has a lot of fret buzz, which can actually be pretty handy as added top end to cut through the mix.

As I said in the original post, vocals are coming pretty soon, so stay tuned.

Would like to get some feedback on this. I love punk, not really pop-punk but close enough for a practice mix.

Sorry for the glitch about a minute in, was in a hurry bouncing this.

SSD4 Drums + CLA Snare and Kick
Pod Farm Guitars and Bass
