I have recently just acquired the following:

16 channel Mackie board
Digi002 Rack
2 KRK V8's
1 Johnson Millenium combo
2 Shure SM58s
2 Shure SM57s [and one is OLD]
3 Sennheiser e604s
2 Rode NT5s
1 Audio Technica AT3035
1 AKG D 112
1 EV N/D 267
1 MXL V57M
1 Alesis Quadroverb 2
Monster cables and all that shit... few snakes, stands, blah blah, tuners, effects... that's the big shit though that I already told you guys about

Buddy of mine was gonna try to be a producer or whatever, decided to quit and just gimme all his shit.. so.. that's cool... ANYWAYS:

What else do I need? I've got the Mac coming this weekend, and already own a bunch of software... so... anything else you guys could recommend I look into?

offload those V8's.. eBay 'em, whatever.. .get something else.. that's just my 2¢.. not a fan of those.

What Mac are you getting? If I acquired all that ... I'd get the fastest Mac I could afford, and either one good sized LCD screen 23" + or two 17"!!!! A behringer powerplay headphone amp $99 or less, a few cheap head phones and one GOOD pair(for you). A spindle of blank CD-R's and a bud with a band to practice your engineering skills with :)

Those V8's are pretty different to get use too, but at least ya' got a pair of monitors.
 
Yeah, evidently I caught mixed reviews on them... my buddy Jon loves his, and this dude who was in the industry back in the day recommended them to my buddy to get too... but James hates them.. hrm... what would I even replace them with? Im seriously not the most knowledgeable in this field.

Hey, don't worry man!!!! You got them FREE :) They work good. Everyone has to get use to thier own monitors. Some engineers carry thier favorites with them or always use a certain brand, because they know thier monitors strong and weak points. And how the mix will translate on other systems by using the monitors thier used to usin' and abusin'!!!!!!!!!! You'll be fine man!!!!!!

I use two 6x9's :loco: jk :D

Gave You all that??!?! Thats one heck of a friend. I had to buy , steal and borrow my stuff.
I suggest a presonus digimax pre the optical adat will give you 8 more channels. Great for recording full bands! and a Mackie BIG KNOB command system awsome for montiring and if you decide to get other monitors.. congradulations and good luck. o_O :headbang:

Yeah, dude gave me that shit, plus his `78 LP Custom and other random things... he quit the industry, packed up all his shit, and gave it to me. He kept minimal crap, cuz he was saying he wants to go back to school for psychology, and wants to help me out cuz Im good and blah blah or whatever, so now I've got all this shit, so I can get these demos going and all that.
 
You just got all that shit for FREE and you want advice on MORE shit to get? That's quite the quandry...

Other than TALENT and MUSIC to record I cant think of anything else. =)

But it will never hurt ya to get an Audix i5 and use that on all guitar cabs in place of 'ole glory.
 
Yeah, because, you're never "done" with anything... so, Im just wondering what you guys would do for the "next move", that's all. Im not saying I dont have enough shit, Im just asking what you'd do next.

talent and music, I think Im doing ok on.

My main guitars are an ESP Custom Shop with Duncans, a Gisbon LP Custom wih Duncans, and a Schecter C-1+ with EMGs.

I've got a Tama Starclassic with Paistes and Meinls

I dont have a real bass rig, though there is a Schecter bass and SWR combo here I can use for now. And Im just going to record with this Johnson, and probably DI the thing.

So, I guess my next moves would be for a better guitar rig, and maybe a live PA setup, also, dunno, whateverz.
