Apparently I need a new DVD drive because mine decided that it hates to play DVD movies. Likes music and all other kinds of cd just fine. But no movies.

So those of you knowledgable in this department, what do I do/need?

everything. but you'll need space so an external hard drive is a superb investment. then just pump it full of sexy media juice.

Is your KEY to anything computers.

52x32x52x16 is nice, you can get one for 30 bucks on pricewatch, drives are easy to find. Combos are nice too. if thats what your looking for.

500GB external HD is also very nice cause you will never have to worry about losing a thing. Terrabite hd's will be avialiabe later this year.

Definatly invest in an external HD, if something goes wrong you have everything you need on that. Its just a simple USB plug in with an adapter.

DC++ is nice, torrents will get you a lot of things, and soulseek is nice too (what retartedpenguin said)

well, jace, if your drive used to play DVDs before, it might just need a clean up. get one of those lens cleaning CDs and give it a few spins. If it never did, you most like don't have a DVD drive or something is messed up in the settings in the BIOS or windows configutration. I agree with deathstrikefromhell, plextor are great, and torrents are great, but if you care about supporting the guy making movies, or the bands, buy the CDs. When i will have invites available i might be able to invite you to demonoid, just let me know.
