Amaranthe's new Video for 1,000,000 Light Years Away

Kinda underwhelming for the kinda song it is.

Not sure what you mean by 'the kinda song it is' but I agree it is underwhelming. Just can't get into this kind of pop metal, female way over sings like she is auditioning for American Idol or something, and the mix of her style with the heavy vocals just doesn't work well to my ears.

To each their own. I find the lyrics and vocals overwhelming.. in a very good way!!

Stop and let my mind reflect and capture my emotions
Run towards the end just to appraise your devotion
Steal, adrenaline is what I need to keep on moving
Fight to let them now that I'll do anything to prove it

You run, you steal and won't give up a fight
Stop me, your illusion might reflect your past
and now you want it back

I RUN THROUGH TIME AND SPACE
SEE THE WORLD FROM AFAR
WHERE MY JOURNEY TURNS INTO A RACE
I WILL ROAM THE EARTH
AND I'LL CONQUER THE STARS
IF YOU HAVE ONE THOUSAND REASONS TO STAY
THEN I'LL BE ONE MILLION LIGHTYEARS AWAY

Fall into a void and rumble round among deception
Hide behind the curtain to deny these accusations
Stay just so the world could see you leave in desperation
Fly towards the sun this is the countdown to extintion

You fall, you hide, afraid to lose your life
You stat, but just so you could fly astray
A million miles away

I RUN THROUGH TIME AND SPACE
SEE THE WORLD FROM AFAR
WHERE MY JOURNEY TURNS INTO A RACE
I WILL ROAM THE EARTH
AND I'LL CONQUER THE STARS
IF YOU HAVE ONE THOUSAND REASONS TO STAY
THEN I'LL BE ONE MILLION LIGHTYEARS AWAY

Can't stay a lie perfected, it's so bizarre
You stay and pray for wonders
To deny it all

I RUN THROUGH TIME AND SPACE
SEE THE WORLD FROM AFAR
WHERE MY JOURNEY TURNS INTO A RACE
I WILL ROAM THE EARTH
AND I'LL CONQUER THE STARS
IF YOU HAVE ONE THOUSAND REASONS TO STAY
THEN I'LL BE ONE MILLION LIGHTYEARS AWAY

Is their music epic, creating visions of Dragons soaring on flying motorcycles? No.
Is their music deep, brooding, creating a hypnotic state while I stare into my snifter of absinthe? No.
Is their music insanely complex, with 19/16 time sigs and key changes from D # to B and back? No.

Is it fun and boppy and energetic, giving me enjoyment around the house as I repair plumbing, or cut the yard? A big solid yes. And I am really looking forward to their performance. All three vocalists have something to offer, and the musical arrangement seems tight.

Yeah...that's why I have been holding off buying this.... they have all the elements I like, diversity in the vocals, great production, catchy hooks but their songs are to formulated, not enough substance in the songwriting, all the songs are structured the same. I am really looking forward to seeing them live and still may pick up the CD....

It's really very good. However, I find that it is a bit over-produced, almost to the point of being soul-less. It almost sparkles a bit too much, kind of like a twinky vampire skipping around in the sunlight.

But the lyrics and songwriting are there, and the vocalists (at least the two clean ones, I haven't seen the growler live) are quite talented. So it's still worth listening to, and the band should be very good live. I'm looking forward to their set.

Also, kinda samey. Well crafted pop metal, but it doesn't really stick with you.

I'm hoping they do bring it live.

I guess I can see why some would say its overproduced, but I don't get the issues with the vocals mix. I know all opinions are like aholes...everyone has one and they all stink....but to me personally, this is the best mix of different vocals I've heard since Ayreon/Avantasia. The songs are fun, but the more I listen to them the more I get out of them. Maybe its the production some are talking about, but reading along with the lyrics that Jen posted...this doesn't really count as "pop" or "light" or "bubblegum" metal in my oh so humble opinion! :)

I enjoy the song, and the album because I find it's what a lot of bands seem to forget: Sometimes, songs should be fun to sing along with and headbang to.

Agreed 100%,love this band...
Also the wiminz seem to really like this, and the really pretty ones I shoot with(have had this on for shoots)

And can't forget that they have the eye candy as well

Looking forward to their set at PPUSA this year! I know my wife REALLY is
