I am completely fucking floored right now. Saw my first live ambient act, it was fucking amazing. I've had a great appreciation for the genre for awhile, but I never thought I'd see as much in it as I do now. I'm sure this thread will die off quick, but if you like ambient at all, check out the following sites (both played 2 hours sets tonight)

www.palancar.net
www.myspace.com/usrsbin

Also, since I was so inspired by such I've decided to take my subpar ambient project with MFJ in a different direction. mp3 to be posted directly.

yeah, i know you are, i remember when you made some thread about liking some bands like this stuff. don't remember what it was though.

all that matters is that you're 99% metal. :loco:

Not entirely related, but I'm going to see Robert Fripp perform solo soundscapes in two weeks, and based on his ambient work, I also expect to be floored, only to come back to earth when Porcupine Tree follows the same night. Going to check out those links now...

nah I think fripp doing soundscapes fits in perfectly here

btw I'm a huge fripp soundscapes/frippertronics/whatever else he's called it fan, I have some of his albums, but have always wanted to see him perform live, since often what you hear live is different from the live recordings he puts out (only recording the tape delay track for the album, for example)

and I'm very jealous of anyone getting to see the fripp/PT tour cause I missed out on it when they came through here :p :(

I still listen to those tracks now and then from the last time you posted them, great stuff!

and acie, eh, I liked the old direction better, better to do something unique than just do bland stereotypical ambient which tons of others do the exact same thing of already

You know Fripp and PT are coming back to 9:30 club next monday night right?

I have school monday nights :(

maybe thats what I was thinking of.. did they come through once already? I may have just tossed it out of my mind a while back because of this and assumed it had passed

Fuck school! Forget the disclaimer in my earlier post, this is someone directly responsible for the existence of ambient. And because their set is preceded by Fripp and SW has promised a different set from the tour earlier this year, it would be a great opportunity to resurrect Up The Downstair or Sky Moves Sideways (I'd kill to hear phase 1 live.)
Even weirder, there was an article on nu-prog in today's NY Post (I use that term because it fawned over Coheed & Cambria & SOAD, and stop comparing the latter to Zappa...completely underserving of such an accolade...rant off) that favorably mentioned PT and the upcoming show.

Actually I think your right, I think this is their second trip to 9:30 recently with Fripp. Im hoping I'll be able to go but Im not sure I can afford the gas at the moment, especially since Im seeing Cephalic Carnage the following night.
