Hi, does anyone in this forum knowes the Amek 9098 Preamp?
I would like to use it for guitar recording. Or is there anything better than it in its price range???

I don´t own any amek but i´ve been reading stuff about them in gearslutz.com

People seem to prefer the Amek Pure Path Channel In a Box. It is of the same price range. They say the preamp is better. Its 2 channel version is even more interesting.

The 9098 is a classic if you get a Neve designed pre you wont look back. The only problem youre gonna have is finding more of em for drum tracking!! Im using Summits myself so cant justify these as well.

Im actually using a TPA200a. Ive also got a Joe Meek VC2, one of the old ones in both cases. The Joe is really versatile nice compressor as well as preamp and exciter the the summit is nice a transparent. I use the summit on almost everything

you know man, for the money i would buy a vintech or a brent avril design if you want the neve sound. i think the 9098 sounds fantastic when i used the console, but i think the 1073 clones are a bit better to me ears plus they have one of my fave eqs besides an api 550. i really really like the vintech x73
sounds fucking killer.

Ive got one, its right in front of me now,
I use it for DI'ing my bass, ive never actually used it as a mic pre yet,
Sounds fantastic to me !
