Another story about this initiative in which it seems it's more targeted towards those using P2P services like Torrents, and more towards those who share up content:

Lesson is - don't share copyrighted material. As for having an effect on legal streaming sites, I can't see why it would if I'm reading it correctly.

Then I should be fine. (If I'm understanding right) I'm to the point where I don't even have mp3's on my comps. Not a one. I definitely don't share any copyright material.

I still don't like the fact that people are going to sit there and spy on us. I'm guessing they always have but still.

I don't think it's going to effect any Netflix accounts.

I don't like it but you knew they always could. I think it's better for everyone to at least know that this could happen. Of course this is the kind of effort that could end free public WIFI in the US which ISP's no doubt are fine with. The other thing I don't like is that the sort of things audio and video professionals do all of the time (downloading and uploading massive files) could potentially get your account scrutinized. I know lots of folks want the internet to stay open and unregulated but it would be nice to get the same protection for internet monitoring that we have for phone taps. I realize it's something of apples and oranges but there are certainly some parallels.
