American show review?

I was there at the Pontiac, MI show. It was the worst show I've seen In Flames do. We had to wait nearly an hour after Killswitch's set because Anders said they were stuck in customs or some shit? That is the biggest load of shit I've ever heard. Their tour bus was outside the venue at 7:00 and they didn't go on stage until like 11. I couldn't stand all the people moshing. I was up towards the stage and everyone up there just kept getting pushed into the railing because of moshers from behind. It was fucking retarded. Also, the guitar sound was fucking terrible. The riffs were complete mud. I was yelling for Jotun and everyone else was yelling for Colony. Why the fuck would someone want to see the same song for the 10th fucking time? The hell if I know.

They dropped all the best songs from the European set, including the ones that I really wanted to see from STYE:
Square Nothing (I really wanted to see this one)
Gyroscope
Episode 666
F(r)iend
In Search For I
Embody the Invisible

Instead, we got all the SAME FUCKING SONGS THEY ALWAYS DO HERE as well as some of the shittier Soundtrack to your Escape songs. Nothing from Whoracle or Jester Race. The only two songs worth a damn were CC (the good one) and My Sweet Shadow. The setlist is below, pretty close to the actual order (I feel like I'm missing a song here for some reason):

Dead Alone (opener)
Pinball Map
System
Touch of Red
Watch Them Feed
Coerced Coexistence
Cloud Connected
Like You Better Dead
Only For the Weak
Behind Space
Trigger
Quiet Place
Colony
My Sweet Shadow (closer)

All in all, a pathetic show. I did enjoy Killswitch Engage far more than In Flames actually, and I only knew 2 of their songs.

Oh noes!!!!

Who wants to buy my L.A. Wiltern tix for May 14th? :)

because Anders said they were stuck in customs or some shit?
Makes me wonder the meaning of the title "Pallar Anders visa". :)

wow, uhh, shit. i was really really looking forward to seeing them live for the first time...though annoying moshers are stupid, and it sounds like you guys really didn't enjoy yourselves..sorry guys :erk: that kind of puts a damper on things

How in the fucking hell can they drop tracks like Embody The Invisible and Episode 666? That is shit. I would have liked to see Friend live as well. I guess they are trying to appeal more to the Killswitch Engage fags/fans. Sorry, I had to do that. Most people around here who like them are emo fucks. I am still looking forward to seeing them though because it will be my first time, but still a bit disappointing that they dropped Embody The Invisible. Another thing, I thought that Killswitch Engage were the headliners for the entire, at least closing the shows?

In Flames closed here. That's all I know.

That IS a disappointing setlist. I can't believe they didn't do anything that's more than 5 years old (with the exception of Behind Space, obviously, which they always do).

Oh my fucking God!

What a shitty ass setlist. I am glad I decided not to buy a ticket for this Thursday because I have a college test.

That is pretty strange, I thought for sure that Killswitch Engage would be the closers throughout the tour since they seem more popular than In Flames to me. Maybe they are switching each night or maybe In Flames will act as the closer for the entire tour and maybe they will change the setlist by the end of the month. Explain what their costumes look like now.

Killswitch Engage > In Flames
especially right now, comparing their newest albums...

In Flames now uses black jump-suit like outfits with their name tags on their pockets.

I'm sorry, I just have to say something. To not include 1 song from BOTH Whoracle and Jester Race is an OUTRIGHT disgrace and an insult to all of us who supported this band in the early days. This is the most below average set list I've ever seen. I'm glad I saw these guys back in 1999. They were really riding high then. Now, the wheels are just falling off, despite their popularity growing.

I mean, I'm still going to see the show, but this is highly disappointing.

That is what I was thinking. Not playing anything pre-Colony is unbelievable. Embody The Invisible is probably one of the greatest live tracks. Moonshield is also a good track to play as well as Episode 666 and Jotun. Dead Alone is not a very good opener at all. Obviously, as I said before, they are trying to appeal to a younger crowd that came out to see Killswitch Engage. The day after this concert, I am going to go to school and hear a bunch of fuckers saying how much In Flames kicked ass. This would not happen if they play torching tracks from previous albums such as everything before Clayman. Christ, Bullet Ride is a fucking great live track. This just gets more and more disappointing.

Blame the shitty U.S. Metal Scene, they obviously are targeting the Hot Topic/Mallcore crowd by doing that set list and why you may ask ... because that's what the U.S is known for these days !!!

Europe, South America and Asia have way stronger scenes and the band sure knows if they give those crowds that show, the audience will send 'em back to Gothenburg bruised and hurt.

From touring with Nevermore and Iced Earth ... to Killswitch Engage and Chimaira ... I rest my case.
