American show review?

Wow, In Flames really isn't doing a good job of keeping me as a fan. I'm sure that doesn't mean shit to them, but hey. Their setlists have been shitty for the past few years now, but man, at least last time they toured here, we got songs from Whoracle. That setlist is the worst I've ever seen from them, period. It's beyond awful.

I never thought I'd see the day that Episode 666 wasn't in the setlist. I wanted them to remove it, but replace it with something else from Whoracle, such as Jotun, or The Hive. It's unfortunate that In Flames is going to get new fans from these shows, but also no doubt lose a few old, hardcore, more important fans that helped get them where they are.

I have a ticket for the San Francisco show... and I don't think I even want to go anymore. This sucks.

Blame the shitty U.S. Metal Scene, they obviously are targeting the Hot Topic/Mallcore crowd by doing that set list and why you may ask ... because that's what the U.S is known for these days !!!
Horseshit.

It's In Flames' PERCEPTION of the U.S. Metal Scene, and nothing more. They're obviously clueless.

"Perception" based on their last five tours in this country with TV/Radio bombarded with nu-metal, the "success" of mediocre bands playing that and their obvious desire to "break" over here.

If you can't see that, then it's time to ask your buddies to pull your head out of your ass.

I'm far from clueless, but hey, I'm not the one who has to live with your idiocy.

If YOU can't see that In Flames is the only bunch of morons who can't figure out that quality metal tours - from Europe AND from right here - come through ALL THE TIME, they are the clueless ones.

For the record, "nu-metal" has been on the way "out" for some time now. In Flames are the ones jumping on the caboose.

And that's why those tours are done at our arenas, coliseums and stadiums, right ??? ...

Face it and accept it, it is extremely hard for european bands to get record companies tour support to play in this country, specifically because of the state of the metal scene here.

Just do the exercise of comparing the turn-out at european and asian concerts in relation to shows over here ... and I'm not even going to go about record sales.

As a firm supporter of my scene I can only hope it'll get better, but again, let's be realistic instead of blindly passionate. In Flames current actions are simply proof that in order to make it "big" in this country they have to play by the current state of musical things ... as ugly as that can be.

Just piss off everyone like I always do and say JESUS CHRIST YOU PEOPLE WHINE ALOT. You know I can understand when metallica went shitty and didnt play hardly any old stuff, but I really dont see this as being a shitty setlist. I started listening to INFLAMES when Whoracle came out and I actually have liked all thier new albums better so shoot me. You guys talk about die hard fans and losing you as a fan or whatever but come one they are still playing their songs. This is the same shit that happened to metallica because they use to be my favorite band back in the day and then they started releasing really shitty music well INFLAMES hasnt released really shitty music and still rock ass. Im not sure what you people are expecting anymore. Dont you think they know people are gonna be pissed about the omissions of TJR and Whoracle but what are they gonna do they have worked their asses off for years to break out of underground and try to get some recognition FUCK THEM FOR WANTING TO MAKE A LITTLE MONEY. I dont see them wearing Korn shirts and promoting reebok or Nike. All three times I saw them Anders wore a pair of shoes that were falling apart on the sides and had duct tape on them. espcailly the Tulsa Ok show on the REROUTE tour.Yes i long for FOOD FOR THE GODS or Upon the OAKEN THRONE but Itll never happen so get over it. I fucking love KILLSWITCH ENGAGE and I dont see them as a MALLCORE BAND AT ALL. I think you people have a miss conception of mallcore and the HOT TOPIC crowd. I bought a Kalmah cd and a Blind gaurdian cd at Hot topic and I never thought of either of those bands as Sellouts. Half the Opeth fans listen to TOOL. So tell me are Opeth as popular as Tool. You can find both of their cds in Hot Topic. OH AND FOR THE RECORD I FUCKING HATE TOOL, OVERRATED SHIT. Also does anyone know where I can get a AT THE GATES shirt? LIKE ONLINE. I saw a bunch of people wearing them on the NE METAL AND HARDCORE FEST DVD. Which by the way is a pretty good DVD. THE HAUNTED were awesome. If you guys dont like the direction of the new Inflames then why would you wanna go to a show because you know they are gonna play 4 or 5 new songs.

I saw the Denver show on Saturday 5/8. This was a date with KE headlining. Regardless, In Flames played a very tight set. The set is different than what BastrdDrmr posted. I don't remember the exact order, but off each record here is exactly what they played:

STYE: Touch of Red, My Sweet Shadow, The Quiet Place, In Search of I (<- this fucking slayed)
R2R: Trigger, System, Cloud Connected
Clayman: Pinball Map (opener), Only For the Weak
Colony: Embody the Invisible, Colony
Whoracle: Episode 666 (about three songs in)
Lunar Strain: Behind Space

I wonder if the headliner each night gets a few more minutes/songs?

Looking and comparing against the original list BastrdDrmr posted, I do like both they played off Colony in Denver, but I've never seen Coerced Coexistence live and would've liked to perhaps instead of Embody (which has been played every time I've seen them).

You guys crack me up. I've never seen so many people get pissed off about a band! Well, there's always Metallica...

In Flames still rule.

They played Episode 666 at Los Angeles couple hours ago.

In Flames did a great job and so did Killswitch Engaged and As I Lay Dying.

Anyhow, here are some pix from tonite's show:
(I apologize for the people on dial ups)
