AMON AMARTH: Jomsviking

There's a difference between trying something new and shitting the bed. You could say CM did both, but only one of them is a problem in my eyes. Also, not every band is judged by the same criteria. Amon Amarth falls much more in line with a band like Manowar, where fans know exactly what they're getting (stylistically, if not qualitatively). Prog metal bands are expected to vary their sound more, rather than release iteration after iteration of the same thing.
PureXul hit the nail on the head. I have no issue with what Amon Amarth did, it's just not currently grabbing me.

Circus Maximus is a different story. They're a band who feels like they're trying to evolve, but is struggling to plot a course forward. The new record sounds like a patchwork of loosely formed ideas. As if each member is trying to pull the band in a different direction and the end result is a grouping of songs that looks like unmatched puzzle pieces forced to fit together.

AMON AMARTH ANNOUNCES US TOUR WITH GOATWHORE

Amon Amarth comments: "United States! We return to your lands this spring and we will raid and plunder your little cities as we please. For the first time we will be sailing our longships towards the curious native celebrations called The Loudest Month (Welcome To Rockville, Northern Invasion, Carolina Rebellion & Rock On The Range) where we will sack and burn them to the ground and feast on the spoils. Our good friends in the almighty Goatwhore will be joining us on this voyage on all headline shows. You have been warned."
