What does an AA setlist for a concert normally look like? Is there a lot of old stuff and new stuff, or mostly new stuff (ie Twilight of the Thunder God, With Oden at Our Side)?

Like all metal band, new stuff reprensents more then 50% of the setlist.
Yet there's always (or often) the older classics like :
Victorious March (only recently did they start playing that one regularly)
The Last with Pagan Blood
The Sound of Eight Hooves
Death in Fire (I guess we can call it old now...)
...etc...

They don't play any song from Sorrow Throughout the Nine Worlds EP though..

If your wondering about the current US tour set that this is the only one posted so far. Looks like my wish for Thousand years of Oppression being added for this tour didn't come true... waaaaaa! Owell the setlist is still fucking killer.

Got this from metalsetlists.com

Twilight of the Thunder God
Free Will Sacrifice
Asator
Varyags of Miklagaard
For the Stabwounds in our Backs
Runes to my Memory
Guardians of Asgaard
Fate of Norns
Bleed for Ancient Gods
Under the Northern Star
Death in Fire
Victorious March
--------------------------------
Cry of the Blackbirds
The Pursuit of Vikings

Looks like my wish for Thousand years of Oppression being added for this tour didn't come true...
ah man. I want them to play this one too along with as long as the raven flies, but what can we do right

Fuck! They're playing Varyaags? And Under The Northern Star?
We got stuck with North Sea Storm. Damn.

Anyhow, what griev0r posted is more or less accurate; anything they have a video for, they play. So:
Death In Fire
The Pursuit of Vikings
Runes To My Memory
Cry Of The Black Birds
Twilight of the Thunder God
Guardians of Asgaard

are all guaranteed. They also always play Victorious March. This is iron-clad, 100% probability shit.
Then I'd say Valhall Awaits Me, Asator, and Free Will Sacrifice are almost always played; 95%
Fate of Norns: a solid 90%
After that, it's a real mixed bag. The Last With Pagan Blood, The Sound Of Eight Hooves, Bastards Of A Lying Breed, and Bleed For Ancient Gods used to be staples, but they've disappeared from setlists lately. A real shame, considering how awesome those songs are.

Do you think they will play "Under the Northern Star" or "Thousand Years of Opression"? Those have got to be my favorite AA songs

It's up for grabs. They've done both of those recently; could be either. Probably not both since both are relatively slow.

Well..I was looking at the USA tour topic and yes...they dont show signs of change too much. Besides For the Stabwounds in our backs addition theres nothing new.Still, its Amon Amarth live!

I will be making my normal requests of Across the Rainbow Bridge and Ride for Vengeance (maybe see if i can get them to do Live for the Kill or Embrace if they have rehearsed those before) for the NJ, MA, PA, VA shows. I WILL HEAR RAINBOW BRIDGE AT LEAST ONCE ON THIS TOUR! THEY ALMOST PLAYED IT LAST TIME IN VA but didn't cause they didn't let the lighting guy know of a change and it would have been last minute. As nice as Stabwounds is it's another one they've played over and over again. Rainbow bridge would be a good change. Im sure that's how they remember me. "Oh no it's that crazy American kid that wants to hear Rainbow Bridge live" Yeah but now it's Rainbow Bridge, Live for the Kill, and Embrace of the Endless Ocean.

How are they gonna do Live For The Kill? Would be so lame if they just stood around with the apocalyptica stuff playing on the PA...

Dude Johan would be pumpin up the crowd and gettin them ready for the last part. How the hell would that be lame specially when it's a AWESOME FUCKING SONG and would be KILLER LIVE! Lots of bands use the PA for orchestral parts. It wouldn't be any different, Apocalyptica are not on this tour with them (in all honesty with their recent cd they would not fit and alot of people would not like them, there older stuff is much better) and as killer as it would be for the one song id fucking settle for the PA to be able to headbang like crazy to it. And i think im not the only one that would not consider it LAME. The apocalyptica part on the PA would STILL give me chills. IT STILL GIVES ME CHILLS WHEN I HEAR IT THROUGH HEADPHONES! Fuck let Amon stand around for that part. It's the CALM before the STORM.

Not much of a storm, really. Worked better in Last With Pagan Blood. Anyway, bands that stand around not touching their instruments while the PA plays sampled stuff are in fact lame. Anyhow, wipe the foam off your mouth and settle down.

lol ok ill calm down, Amon is not untill friday so i got a few days still. Ok so we know your opinion. anybody else think it'd be lame. I mean opinion is just that. I totally agree with you though that Live for the Kill is not Last With Pagan Blood. I can't help but enjoy it. not foaming at the mouth really but i do smile about it. After seeing Cry of the Blackbirds live many times id take live for the kill once over it for a change. cause they are similar in ways.
