Anyone like Amorphis? I followed em from their demo days up to Elegy. Actually, I would say I LIKED them up to Elegy. Elegy remains one of my favorite albums of all time, even though it is rather "weak" as far as metal goes, but the whole folkiness has always had me hooked, and I loved the vocal combo. Well, I hated everything they did afterwards..until...Eclipse.

Has anyone heard this album? I got to sample a promo, and I would say it is easily Elegy Part DEUX. Lots of folky melodies, acoustic guitars, and death vocals (finally!) Funny thing they got a new vocalist, its the singer from Sinisthra, and they fucking suck donkey balls..so I was skeptical..but he does a great job. Actually, I cant even tell its him except on a few songs, I would say its the same team from Elegy.

Well thats my 2 cents, I enjoyed the promo a ton, gonna buy it when it comes out. Stand out songs (in my opinion) are :

The Smoke
Brother Moon
Stonewoman (bonus track)
Leaves Scar

Peace out bitches!

oh yeah, I also picked up these albums recently and they RULE

Cephalic Carnage - Anomalies
Cult Of Luna - Salvation
Necrophagia - Harvest Ritual Volume 1
Christ Agony - Trilogy (actually all Christ Agony rules!)

Amorphis kick ass. Their early material is killer. I actually dont hate their newer stuff. I cant listen to full newer albums, but I like a certin number of songs from their current albums.

thats how I have been. I could listen to like a few songs, but not the entire album. Now elegy and before I could listen to the full things.

Amorphis are fucking amazing and are easily one of my favorite bands. "Elegy" and "Tuonela" are beyond classic with their mix of musical shades with saxophones, flutes and folk-y guitars.

I saw them in March with the new singer and he struck me as more of a converted Death Metal vocalist than an actual singer singer, if you know what I mean. Still, their music live is so tight and brilliant, it is downright orgasmic. I could barely move my head for two days because I was banging my head so hard for the song "Greed".

So yeah, I like them.:Spin:

Can't wait to hear the new LP, even without Pasi on vox.

I see where your comming from. Songs like "Goddes (Of The Sad Man)", "Alone" and "Killing Goodness" kick ass, but to listen to a full album for me would be overkill. I'm talking about new stuff. I could listen to Tales From The Thousand Lakes all day.

I understand where you are coming from about the converted Death metal vocalist. When listening to the promo I thought Tomi was doing the vocals, but its the new guy, and he does sound like Pasi sometimes, good stuff. I am still impressed by how good he sounds, considering how horrible I think sinisthra is.

I could listen to Tales all day, and I love the black winter night McD too. Elegy could literally play 24/7 and I wont mind.

I want to hear them.
Did you ever see that guy mortis?? I think..
I saw him in like 27 scenes of Lord of the Rings..

LOL. Yeah he was like in every goblin scene.

The closest link I have for their music is their myspace page :

My Kantele and Black Winter Day are the two good ones. Keep in mind its kinda finnish folky death/doom. I dont know any links for the new album, I only heard the promo.

I'm glad you picked up the Cephalic Carnage cd, Evil Dead. That cd fucking rules:headbang: . "Dying will be the Death of Me" is a hilarious song. I love his high pitched "Come ON!!!!" in the middle of the song. For whatever reason it makes me laugh every time I hear it. Kill for weed is a good one too.

I saw those guys at a local bar with Mastodon(before Mastodon broke) and the singer was introducing Black Metal Sabbath and he was telling the crowd that the song was about smoking weed, eating Cheetos, watching porno and waking up with an orange dick in the morning. Quite humorous:lol: Anomalies is definitely one of my favorites of 2005.

Cephalic Carnage rules. I love "Dying will be the death of me." The song is bad ass, and it hilarious..just the title. When I heard it on the digital music channel on TV, I was like "What the hell, good title!" My favorite song is Piecemaker I think though, it makes me want to fight.

Piecemaker is indeed a kickass song!! Do you have any of their other albums yet?

HAvenet gotten anything else yet. I usually reserve most of my mass CD buys until I visit my hometown in TN, since there is a store that carries EVERYTHING. I found Forefather - Deep into Time / Emperor Demo and all kinds of other shit there that I used to have to scour the net to find. I will pick up more Cephalic though.

I fell into Amorphis, someone gave me there CD for free, they arent the best, but I still dig some of their stuff, like the new album. Im gonna listen to Immortal - Pure Holocaust now cuz Im not feeling metal enough anymore talking about Amorphis hah!
