Amp Power cord

I just got a new amp, but it came without the power cord.
Can i put another powercord? for example a computer one? or it must be a matching power cord?

is it new or new to you...if new take it back to the music store where you got it from and let them give you one from the same amp. if not look at the power source label on the back and find out what power cable you need. they are not all the same.

Thanks for the reply.
I bought it used, it suposed to came with the cord but nothing. so i ll need to buy a new one, what happens if i put a non matching cord? it just bring some noise or worse?

i have lots of extra computer monitor cords or similar, you can use them.

i'd still try to get the cord from the shop, amp cords are usually longer than the stock pc monitor cord.

the detachable power cables are usually 18Ga. the computer one will work, it may be a bit shorter than you'd like.

90% of amps these days use standard IEC-style power cables. You can find them on computers, monitors, speakers, etc... Radio Shack will surely have them in whatever length you need.
