I'm pretty sure that nearly all of the amps you testet here can sound MUCH better. I think you're problem are not bad soundin amps, you need more tweaking

Definitely. The problems were: All knobs at noon, small room, problems with room modes, 2 years less experience than today (and KRK rokit as monitors in a crappy small room). The problems with the room pissed me so much that we decided to build a new studio with a designer from John Sayer's forum.

But you can hear somehow the caracteriscs of the amps, though.
And my friend's powerball sounds just like that (bad tubes?)

More likely needs biasing. The HM2 sound is derived from asymmetric clipping and some crossover distortion. The crossover distortion on tubes will happen when they're biased too cold.

Sounds like HM2 to me LOL
