Well, I suppose I am now biased but I've been using AmpliTube way longer than I have been with IK - including using Fender too. I do love the bass amp, but the high-gain amp sounds great too. I'm nowhere near the metal expert that many here are, but lots of folks are saying good things about it. I also reach for AmpliTube Metal for leads quite a bit more than most of the others.

guitar rig 4 sucks, amplitube fender is terrible for metal tones, amplitube metal requires a lot of compression to get a natural sound and its very grainy. you also have studo devil's amp, revalver mk2 and mk3, line 6 gearbox, pod farm and a bucket load of free vst amps - ask questions at that link to get the right answers
