Of the eight musicians I spoke with, five specific mentioned looking forward to watching Symphony X's performance. I've been doing the interview thing for the fest for a few years now, and never have the interviewees singled out a specific artist like that.

So, when you're watching SX, look around. You'll likely see some of the folks who were recently on the stage.

Ray Alder and King Jon were quite amazed watching Russ from the sidelines one year - it was amazing to hear and watch 2 metal vocal legends in awe and giving props to one of the (at the time) up and coming young guns. The looks on their faces when he hit some notes was priceless
One of my fave PP backstage moments

That's really cool. I'm really looking forward to something special from SX too. I anticipate my face being brutally melted.

Im very, very interested to see them play specifically this show. I hope the sound is what I expect and killer... Last time we saw them, the only clear sounding playing was the solos from romeo - all the rhythm guitars were buried and the mix sucked..

I imagine they will kill it though on all aspects on this show!!! looking forward to it!

You know what, that's a good point! It doesn't matter if some of the bands that play at PP do tour the states, because most of the time the band's don't get a fair shake with sound, etc. in the small clubs that they play.

If you want to see and hear a band done right, then watch their set at ProgPower! That would be a very good point for Glenn and Miel to make if anyone ever says, well that band tours the U.S. some.

oh totally! Even the big venues sometimes have problems... I have seen SX twice. Once at Firestone (they had a problem with the board that day) and the same thing happened at the Beacham when they were with IE... Even IE's set was just increda-mudd, which is completely opposite of when I saw them at the HOB!

Stoked for the show, PP Will deliver!

That largely depends on whether they stick with their own sound guy, or use Glenn's house guy. I've seen them enough times in different venues that it's clear that they get the sound they want with their own guy...and that sound is not a crystal clear mix.

On the whole, the acoustics at Center Stage are still better than a lot of other venues and even with their own guy, they'll probably sound better than they usually do.

IMHO Symphony X are the best band in metal right now. I've seen them twice in the last year and they were great both times. Always a solid performance.
They were also very cool to me, hung out, took photos, answered questions, and Jason gave me a drumstick. Just an all-around great group of guys that deserve success.
And Adrenaline Mob were great too.
