I guess I'll toot my own horn here bit, too.
I'm involved with one of America's longest-running metal radio shows, WREKage on WREK-FM in Atlanta, which has been running for around 20 years (no-one's quite sure when the show started, now). Friday nights, from 10pm until we get tired, the sweet smell of metal.
The best thing about the show nowadays is that it can be streamed live in near-CD quality mp3 (that's not too unusual) ...but what IS unusual is that the show is also archived for a week afterward, so you can go back and listen to stuff you missed. We now post our playlists dynamically as we play stuff.
The overall link for the show is http://www.wrekage.org
The link for our playlists is http://www.wrekage.org/playlists.php -- older playlists are on my own site, at http://wrekage.paulcashman.com
The mp3 streaming archive link is at http://www.wrekage.org/wrekage.m3u
(For slower connections, you can go to the station's page at http://www.wrek.org and use the 24 kilobit mono stream to listen.)
Last Friday night's show was our longest in recent memory, about 8 solid hours from 10pm-6am. While the show's focus has tended toward harder/heavier stuff, any metal is fair game and, depending on the deejay, we'll be playing more power- and progressive stuff -- we played quite a bit this past Friday (new Nightwish!) and we got some excellent calls about the bands.
Those within 50-60 miles of Atlanta can listen live at 91.1 FM, and make requests at 404-894-2468 while the show's in progress.
During the week, we take requests at requests@wrekage.org
(As a side note, we almost played Green Carnation's Light of Day, Day of Darkness in its entirety this past Friday, and I think we would have if we hadn't had so many requests. )
