omg this is so sick. i heard about it on the johnpetrucci forum.

this is the most exciting news i've heard in a while. my fav band, and my favorite mix engineer, it's practically a match made in heaven. hopefully the music doesn't suck like the last two albums. either way i look forward to it i think it will be be amazing to hear the result of the guy who loves automating everything and a band that has so many notes lol

i remember mike portnoy somewhere (i think it was "that metal show") commented that they are one of the only bands left who still spend $500,000 to record an album in a big studio and lock it out for months at a time and make albums the "old school way"

they have recorded in some impressive studios throughout and usually are in there for months and months and months so i'm sure they rack up that bill as he described.

they must be a record labels dream. they are a lock to go gold consistently on every single album and release they put out. that consistency factor is alone what makes them a hot commodity for a label especially these days. they are rock solid in sales and their fanbase is super loyal and consistent in financially supporting them. i for one love buying every sort of edition of anything they put out, studio albums, live albums, dvds, official bootlegs, etc..

I'll be honest; I absolutely loathe Dream Theater. They represent virtually everything about music that I outright hate, as a physical entity. But I'm extremely curious how Andy Wallace would mix one of their records. So bring it on!

lol it's all good. i get not digging them, but having them represent everything you hate? isn't there a whole world of stupid pop and hip hop garbage in the mainstream that would better suit that sentiment? not a band of devoted talented musicians lol

Design the Skyline or Broken Clyde or whatever shit bands come to mind. And don't forget Rebecca Black.

brokencyde (it means "broke inside"). But I still think Design the Skyline is worse. Or maybe this is like "Band xxx is best!" "No it's band yyy!", they're both equally bad, just different flavours of bad.
