Anette Olzon vs. Tarja Turunen

Angela Gossow few years ago,

I'd go for Anette.

PS: About Simone Simons, she's definitely hot, but fails live, and if I want to see good looking women I won't pay 20€ for a gig ticket but I'll get a mag/lurk the net, I saw Epica with Sonata Arctica and maybe it was Simone's worst live performance and I shouldn't judge her for that one, but she'd been better with the mic off. She didn't match any of the vocal harmonies and that stuff. Studio great, but live didn't like her. Should I try again or is it always like that? (BTW show was Barcelona)

Actually when I saw Epica supporting Symphony X she sung brilliantly, and I'm not an Epica fan either.

Tarja is much more metal than Anette in every possible sense. Anette looks like a popstar, acts like a popstar, sings like a popstar. Which doesn't mean her voice isn't good: her character just doesn't fit the context as a whole.
+1
She really does bounce around like Britney while singing  Anette's a good singer, just a drastic change from Tarja.
Is this about there looks? If it is, I go for Anette.
+1
Francine Boucher.

:D
titties... and... titties...... Her job relies on her rack, not her voice. She's Britney fronting a metal band.
Echoes of Eternity is awesome.
How? It's nothing special. Bottom of the totem pole, below Epica, Nightwish, Within Temptation, Lacuna Coil... They don't have lasting power. I say 2 more albums max.
Anette has a better voice and better looks.
and for a moment I thought you'd came to your senses

I don't like Nightwish or Tarja's solo work, but Tarja pwns Anette in the vocals dept, in regards to Nightwish. Generally I dislike the women in the current metal scene. Angela doesn't count because she's who she is and remember, she replaced a guy.

I think Avril's way cooler than those opera-pop spewing chicks.

okplzflamenaow

Everyone thinks Tarja is special but shes not. There are better opera singers

TBH I like Anette better because she isn't a bitch to the band and her voice isn;t that bad

Nah, ice queen. Ice queen- I think that's the message she, or rather her closet is trying to give us. I watched the video for her single. Stupidity.

I like Anette's looks more, but I wouldn't go as far as to call Tarja ugly though... by far. But Tarja seems more photogenic.

I don't mind Anette's voice either, but I do enjoy Tarja's more, especially on the Nightwish-background.

I dont really know actually...I like them both but if I have to choose I go for Anette..Tarja did a lot of shit for the band so..

It's just by curiosity and I want someone that knows better the story to answer.
I read some stuff on the web that only said they had different points of view.

So don't treat people as if they were stupid enough to not use the internet if they REALLY want to know something. And if everybody act like you half of the posts and threads here should be deleted.

2005

In February 2005, Nightwish won five awards in Emma-Gala (Finnish Grammy). Among the others they won awards for "The Band of the Year" and "The Best Selling Album of the Year". Tuomas and Marco flew from European tour to Helsinki to receive the awards. The last show in the European tour was so far the biggest gig of their own, in Stuttgart there were 10,001 people watching the show!
In March, Nightwish performed the first time in Japan and Australia; in April and May, they had to have a break because of Tarja's other interests, but at the end of May the band started the tour again by playing with Iron Maiden in Poland and with Mötley Crüe in Norway.
In July, the 3rd single, a new version of Sleeping Sun, was released since the record label had decided to use it to promote the forthcoming collection Highest Hopes. The new version of the video for "Sleeping Sun" was directed by Joern Heitmann and shot in August 2005 in Prague. During the Autumn 2005, Nightwish played several shows and performed in the legendary Hammersmith Apollo Venue for sold out seats. After a short festival tour in South America (in October), the Once World Tour was coming to an end. The final concert was played on 21 October for 11,500 people in Hartwall-Arena in Helsinki. The concert was also recorded to be released as an End of an Era live DVD.
After the last concert, Tuomas, Emppu, Marco and Jukka fired Tarja Turunen, and her manager Marcelo Cabuli. The reason for this was because during the Once Tour their attitude and actions had turned out to be against almost all that Nightwish represents. As one may guess, the news of the firing was followed by an incredible sensation and hullabaloo. Once the nearly ridiculous fuss was finally starting to calm down in the end of 2005, Nightwish was able to look to the future and wait for an adequate singer to be found.
By the end of 2005, "Once" has sold approx. 1,000 000 copies worldwide as well, it has sold triple platinum in Finland, platinum in Germany, and gold in Sweden, Norway, Switzerland, Greece, and Austria. The "Highest Hopes" collection has sold double platinum in Finland and gold in Norway by the end of the year 2005.
