Need a hand from some of you experts and dealers.

I've owned a copy of Angel Dust's "Into the Dark Past" for a couple years, but discovered only last night that the original release of this CD is actually a rarity that fetches a pretty penny.

I understand that the "official" release of this album contains bonus tracks, which mine does not, but apparently there are several known bootlegs out there with only the original 8 songs.

Is anyone familiar with how I can tell whether my copy is real or not? What would I look for?

This would be a nice surprise, though I don't have my hopes up. :)

Cheers,

Christian

Chances are that your copy says it's released by a label called Scratch. If so, then it's one of the "bootleg" copies. I have one of those myself. I use the quotation marks because they are apparently legal copies that were sanctioned by the band's first label but not approved by the band. The original release was through Disaster Records, a very small label out of Germany that no longer exists. I don't know of any bonus tracks for that album, but I know that there are bonus tracks on the original CD version (and subsequent bootlegs) of "To Dust You Will Decay." I hope this helps.

Stay metal. Never rust.

Thanks for the reply and sorry for my late response! Usually I get emailed that someone responded to a post...must have missed it.

Yes, the CD does say Scratch on it, but also that it is licensed from Disaster. I got really curious because I've seen some of the "Scratch" versions selling as originals so I wasn't sure if I somehow stumbled on one. If those are the duplicates, oh well, at least I still have the music. :)

Cheers,
Christian

ANGEL DUST - MEGA RARE CDS COMING NEXT WEEK; PRE-ORDER LAUNCHED

"...Two of the rarest metal CD collectables in the world will be reissued with bonus tracks this month via No Remorse Records.

The first two albums from German speed/thrash metal legends Angel Dust, Into The Dark Past and To Dust You Will Decay, originally released in 1986 and 1988, will be reissued including many bonus demo and unreleased tracks, mastered by Patrick W. Engel at Temple Of Disharmony, in Germany.

An update from the label states: “These two albums need no introduction. They have been bootlegged for years, but all the legal red tape has finally been cleared and No Remorse Records has reissued them, officially. We have super limited stock (less than 15 copies) arriving next week and we don't expect them to last long so we have them up for pre-order now. Don't wait.”

Pre-order at this location...."
