Another legendary Swedish band calls it quits - Candlemass

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And Bob, not everyone can go on every damn metal site all the time like you.

Never got to see these guys live. Wish I could have with Messiah. Nothing against Robert (at all, he's great), but the Messiah-era albums are my favorites and he's the most ecclectic/interesting singer the band has had.

But they can be proud if they hang it up now: their legacy will be among the upper echelon of all doom metal forever.

Kind of surprising. I thought they had really been making a resurgence over the last few years. Did they do all that work only to break up now?

Saw Messiah and Candlemass at the 9.30 Club in DC a looooooooong time ago. Liege Lord opened. Messiah had lost his voice; but no fear, as the members of Liege and Candlemass sung all the 'Mass songs. One of the most memorable and fun concerts ever witnessed.

That's why I'm so shocked by this. It really does seem like a strange time to be calling it quits. I wonder if something happened within the band, because it just doesn't make much sense to me right now.

Just glad I got to see them with both Messiah and Robert...one of my all-time faves, their first 2 albums are still in my top 10 of all-time...but this is a band I think will be back at some point...

We shall see. If they do, I don't want them to bring on another new vocalist. I actually prefer Robert, though the best albums were with Messiah. Either of them I'm okay with. If they brought on anyone else, I would rather them not come back.
