Anthrax: What Doesn't Die

Just read the message from Charlie regarding the "fans" dowloading any of the music from the upcoming cd.
I guess he's against "fans" doing this? Like Anthrax will be hurt by this? They'll be "lucky" to sell 10,000 copies of the new disc(world wide), maybe that's why he's concerned? Either way, I will buy the disc, I'm a bigger fan of the Bush era. :hotjump:

I think part of his message pertains to the fact that the album comes out on Feb. 4 in Japan, while it doesn't hit the U.S. until April 1. I support Anthrax and the music they put out, but it would suck if the "fans" that otherwise might have bought the album in April download it in February and then don't buy it at all. I mean, this is one of the few good artists left. If we don't buy their music, who's left to put decent music out?

I agree with you about not buying music & dowloading music.
I just think that the fact that anyone would post something like that...
Well, people blasted Lars when he went after napster.
When Charlie posts something like this, it sounds really desperate.
If I hear samples or obtain a copy from somewhere. I will still buy the real deal. As a fan I will support them. Like you said Anthrax is one of the few bands out there from back in the day that still cranks out some pretty good music.

So true. I'm so fucking sick of bands adopting this attitude. If anything. The mp3's we download helps with sales of bands cd's.There are countless bands that i have got into from hearing their mp3's alone.

Anthrax are obviously worried that the new cd won't sell and if people hear the mp3's they will realize that it is another worthless piece of shit and no one will buy it.

I used to be a HUGE Anthrax fan. They were THE band that got me into metal. Then they released stomp 442.....and went to shit ever since.I really do hope that they bring the stakes back up on their new one.

I too didn't care too much for 442, but have you checked out "The Threat is Real?" That one is good. I only hope this new disc is heavy. I like sound of white noise. They haven't really evolved as a band. Scott always has others do the solos, it hasn't been the same since Spitz left the band.

Stomp 442 was okay, but Volume 8 ruled. I've heard 5 tracks off of "We've Come For You All" so far. It's all good, but unless the other 9 tracks really blow me away, I don't think this one will be as good as Volume 8 or SOWN. We'll see in a few months when I get my hands on it.

So true. It has been a downward spiral since Spitx left. I've only heard a couple of tracks from albums after Stomp... and I wasn't impressed by what i heard. Although, their was one track from Volume 8 that was pretty kool. Inside Out is it? There's a clip to the song where there on a plane and it's like one of the shorts from The Twilight Zone movie.

I should swallow my pride and chek into those "other" releases. I will definitly suss out the newie.

If you decide to swallow your pride & you check out the other discs. I woul recommend you start with Vol. 8(TTIR). There are a couple of throw aways on there. Overall it's better than 442.

I think Somp 442 slays! I think it is their greatest album to date. Certainly the best Bush era thrax. Volume 8:The threat is real was a bit lightweight in comparison. 442 is like a monster truck with a finely tuned engine and every track is great.

I can't imagine why anyone would be dissapointed by that album when to me it is their finest to date.

I dunno about that. To me, Stomp had about as much substance as a new Megadeth cd. But then again. I'd probably get slagged for stating that every album after Megadeth's Rust In Peace sucked big time.

Well, I'd probably get slagged for saying that I've never really cared for Megadeth period...but it's all a metter of opinion, right? Although Stomp 442 IMO was the weakest of the 3 Thrax albums with Bush on vocals, it was still the 3rd best metal album released in the 90's (IMO of course) behind SOWN and Volume 8.

Spitz never added anything to Anthrax's sound, one way or the other. Bush, however, was a vast improvement over Belladonna.
Anthrax with Belladonna were cool. Saint with Bush were cool. Anthrax with Bush have been awesome, and I expect no less from the new release.

Charlie says on the website that it's April 15th.

Of course, things can always get pushed back more between now and then. I won't believe the date until the album is in my CD player.

Also, Charlie clarified his original statement on the website:

HOLY SHIT! I've been getting a ton of emails from everyone and their mother, it's great! Everyone has been very cool with the downloading thing and the toy collecting, I'm psyched! I would like to mention that I do understand that it's so hard to get exposed to music nowadays, especially HARD ROCK/METAL. Many of you mentioned that you download songs to check it out and see if you like it and then you would go and buy it. I think that's fine. With the prices of these things - I think it's important to make sure you like what you're buying. But then there are the ones who just steal it and say "fuck it" . I really think that this whole stealing music thing is really going to hurt music in the coming years... if a band can't sell any records , that band won't be able to make any records. That goes for every single band/artist, and then what do we have? The shit that gets pushed on MTV... I don't want to talk about this anymore.

Stay well and make a lot of noise
C.B.

Man, April seems like a fucking year now doesn't it?!
I wish that bands would not "tease" fans with a date
for release until it's in the can/a done deal!!!!!!!
I wait to hear this record.
Hey, any word on a reissue of Vol 8??!
There were supposed to be bonus tracks or something?!
Any news on that?!
