Anthrax's Phantom Lord on Metallica tribute CD

Even though met's version is better, this is probably the best metallica cover out there.
Okay, that I agree with...it IS better than most Metallica covers, just not as good as the original version.

Now maybe if they'd covered something off of Load or Reload, THEN they might have improved on it

i haven't heard the anthrax version. but, i'm guessing, the song will be on the Volume 8 re-release, along w/ 2 other cover songs (the 3 that were on the inside out jap single)

...I kinda like the anthrax version better and it kinda answers the question I have had since 1985: What might Metallica sound like with John Bush on vocals?

Deek, nice to see someone remembers Trouble; I think they rock!

I like Selloutica's version better. "Phantom Lord" is the only cover that Anthrax did that isn't as good/better than the original.

I think almost every cover Metallica did (on Garage Inc.) is better than the original versions.
Garage Inc. RULES! Download it if you don't have it!
(Whatever you do, don't pay for it!):D

Yeah, I would say that Metallica is probably the world's best cover band...their covers pretty much rule all the original versions...except I will say that Motorhead took back Overkill in a major way in Amsterdam last week!

i'll put a spin on it,i bet metallica would suck at covering an anthrax song!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i dont think any band could cover the song as good as the original

countless bands cover black sabbath and although they do it justice most of the time there is still something missing

its called having your own sound which isnt too common these days.

gone are the days where u here a song and say oh shit thats metallica or thats anthrax etc

Disc two was so much better than disc one. I'm not sure why they put them both together...so they could show how far they've fallen?

Disc two rocked from beginning to end. Whiskey in the Jar wasn't bad on the first disc, Free Speech was ok, too, but the rest you could throw away and not miss it.

Disc 2 on Garage Inc. was great. I had most of my CD collection stolen, including my Garage Days Re-revisited CD, so I was glad to get those back along with The Prince and Breadfan on CD.

Of course, I stop listening when it gets to the Motorhead covers. Those recordings just don't gel with me so I skip'em and go back to the beginning.

As for disc 1, the Mercyful Fate melody was interesting for a bit, and the Misfits track as well, but I have to agree. The majority of the remaining CD just falls short of being interesting.

Of course, the "Load-era" Metallica sound makes me grind my teeth in agony, so I doubt I would like anything recorded in it.
