Earier this week, ANTHRAX guitarist Scott Ian spoke to SiriusXM's "Trunk Nation" about the material he and his bandmates are working on for the follow-up to 2016's "For All Kings" album. "We've had a couple of writing sessions," he said. "That [went] really well. We have some really, really powerful skeletal arrangements of some new stuff. There's more ANTHRAX dates. We start in Europe on June 6th — we're in Europe from June 6th till July 1st, and then again in August for a couple of weeks, playing festivals and more shows with SLAYER. And I think we have more gigs with SLAYER in South America, like late September into October, because we're both on Rock In Rio. So, yeah, ANTHRAX continues to roll between touring and working on a new album." ANTHRAX drummer Charlie Benante told Metal Rules that the band's new music is shaping up to be "a little more aggressive and angrier, only because the climate we are all living in is reflected in our music." The group's upcoming disc will be ANTHRAX's third full-length release since the return of singer Joey Belladonna, who came back into the fold for the "Big Four" shows, in the process helping inspire a new wave of creativity. "For All Kings" was called by some critics ANTHRAX's strongest album to date. Its arrival followed a five-year period during which the band experienced a rebirth of sorts, beginning with ANTHRAX's inclusion on the 2010 "Big Four" tour with METALLICA, SLAYER and MEGADETH, and continuing with the 2011 release of comeback LP "Worship Music".
