I'm considering getting an RP155 or 255 (probably the latter since it's got the wah pedal built in). I played an older series in GC and recall it sounded great through headphones for solos and messin around. Wondered if anyone here rocks one for practicing/training, or even uses it for recordings. Clips of it in action would be cool if ya got em.

I used to have one, but it was years ago - must have been an earlier model so they're probably way better now.

Still, I dug the lead tones I got out of it. I used it for some live shows for a while.

cool. it did seem to be strongest in the lead department as I recall.

that's it, I'm sold!

I had I think an RP250 once and couldn't get any good hi-gain tones out of it. I sold it and now I have an RP50 as a practice tool (it has a drum machine with an adjustable tempo).

I have the RP350. It sounds great for just about anything but super high gain metal. With the 2101 model, I get something very usable though. If you like metal from a pedal sort of tone, then those will definitely suffice.

But I personally have had better luck with some of the free software modelers.

The FX are great and it makes an excellent all-in-one practice tool and for recording scratch demos. It is also great for experimenting since you have a whole palette of stuff to play with.

But anything more serious and releasable, I would only use it for monitoring the DI tracks for low latency. Then re-amp the DI tracks either with VST's or real amps.

For live use, I tried to use it for a festival show (shared gear) and spent a lot of time dialing. But I couldn't get it quite right for high gain. Either it was too harsh, or didn't cut. In the end I ended up using a Sansamp GT-2.

I have the RP250...basically no high gain modes worth using but its nice for an all in one effects pedal (if you use wah/delay/flange etc.)

good tips, thanks. I'll probably settle on a 150/155 given the advice.

I have 3 RP250s (got them through work for DIRT cheap) - and I only use them for the metronome so we cna practice to a click  Every amp I ever hooked it into has squeeled back in agony (even with all amp and cab emus bypassed)
