Although its not on anymore, what a great show from Canada. Check it out. If you are a guy you should love it! If you are a girl and you love it, I think I love you! LOL
I watched the show for the last few seasons it was on the air. One of the PBS stations where I live shows it at 10:30 PM on Saturday night (currently showing the earlier seasons).
Red Green managed to make great practical stuff out of junk. Some of it worked well, others... not so well. Great promoter of the "Handyman's secret weapon" - Duct Tape!
It is a shame that Steve Smith (the creative genius behind the show, and the actor who played Red Green) decided to end the show, but you could tell towards the end of the series they were running out of ideas. Heck, it was on for well over ten years, so it had a good run. The earlier seasons were more fun though.
"I'm a man, I can change, if I have to, I guess!"
"Keep your stick on the ice"
"If the women don't find you handsome, at least they should find you handy."
PBS aired it here in IL, too. I caught a few episodes and was greatly amused. My dad, however, LOVES this show. I'm sure he'd join the Possum Lodge if he could.
There's a guy where I work who has an autographed photo of he and Red Green. I guess he went to a taping of the show up in Toronto back in the 90s.
I seriously considered getting tickets to a show taping, but I heard they went so fast that I didn't even bother. Would have been awesome to see all the characters in person. The trip to Toronto would have been nice as well.
Does anybody know what the main characters of the show (especially those in the later seasons) are up to these days?
