Have been listening to "THOSE WHOM THE GODS DETEST" for a few days now.

It may be a bit early to say, but this could go down as being Nile's best record to date. It was produced by Neil Kernon (Queensryche, Cannibal Corpse, Nevermore), and the drums recorded by Erik Rutan (Hate Eternal).

The first thing that came to my mind was the quality of the production. Nile has never sounded so crystal clear on a disc. The songwriting is intricate as usual, and Karl Sanders is on top of his writing.

As the press release said, "this album will show all youngsters and newcomers just who is the leader of the pack!"

Death Metal fans make sure to check this out!!!

Why doubt? I'm sure Nile has many fans in these parts. I'm one. Although frankly I lost interest after Annihilation of the Wicked because their albums just start to blur together. (Same issue with Vader, I don't feel a need to buy anything after Litany even though I really like their style). If this Nile album is really that great though, I might pick it up. In Their Darkened Shrines was the first album of theirs I liked and it continues to be my favorite. I like the two albums preceding it but ITDS just delivers the most goods at once IMO.
Ironically, production is one of things that keeps me away from a lot of modern death metal. I don't like overproduced, super-sterile, ultra clear production in this type of circumstance. I like a little rough, raw, murkiness. ITDS intentionally kept a certain swirling rawness to its production, which I really like about it (and similar).

Has it leaked or something? I thought it wasn't coming out till November. The new track sounds amazing, and I've already seen some really positive reviews coming in.

But I am not surprised. I don't think Nile has a bad album, and they set a standard of excellent with Annihilation of the Wicked, but Ithyphallic was a monster too. I very much look forward to hearing the new album!

^^^ Same...Suffocation's live album is my favorite

But this is one of my favorites of the year...New Nile is really good. It surprised me for sure.

I have had the promo for a few days, not sure about a leak. They did post the new song though, and as you said, it's amazing. The whole album imo is on that same level.

Nile is really one of the top death metal bands out there. I can't wait to see their upcoming tour!!! :headbang::headbang::headbang:
