Anybody got ENGL V30 impulses?

hi guys,
can somebody please host the impulses poidaobi and metaljonesy posted somewhere so I can try them? (sneap ftp?) I can't seem to login at the sites to download them (keeps saying my acces code is invalid etc)

thanks in advance, looking forward to the impulses..

They were the 8th gen Chinese tubes that shipped with the amp originally. The first owner of this particular amp worked in a guitar store & got one of the very first 5150s.... & now it's all mine. I just had to clean the puke, beer, fix the broken knobs & generally sterilize the thing as it was a "working amp" in his bar band for a good ten years.

I "upgraded" to a full matched & balanced set of 9th gen Chinese tubes about 8 months ago. Paid a premium for the matching service, too. I think with this Mesa cab, anyway, the 8th Gen ones sound better. I also down-biased my poweramp closer to the original setting & seem to be getting this amazing midrange thing going on now.... I'll post it in a few days.
I seem to remember someone mentioning that hot-biasing a 5150 sort of takes away from it what makes it unique. With a Marshall V30 cab, it's just too shrill & needs it, IMO. With a Mesa cab, though, all I can say is, "wow!" Cooling off those power tubes really sounds good.

Now if I can only find my original set of power tubes.... well, the last one anyway. Took 'em out back in '05 for a set of JJ's. They were Sovtek 6l6GB's... I found 3 of 4. How fucking useful is that? :hypno:

Cool, man... I have a pair of JJs and a pair of Ruby tubes that I believe are of Chinese origin in my power section now.

Hey poidaobi, what kind of tubes are in your 5150, preamp and power? You definitely have that nice smooth In Flames snarl going...

I put the impulses on my site for you. Go to http://www.johnnylokke.com/impulse.htm to get them. I'll leave them for a few days.

Poi and MJ - If this isn't ok let me know and I will yank them.

EDIT **Looks like I was beat to the punch. I'll leave them for a few days anyway in case anyone has trouble getting them from the other place.**

Remember that you have to add some silence (1 sec. for example) at the end of the recorded sweep when you export it...

the Engl impulse is really promising but theres a lack of high end, maybe if you could boost the presence a bit more, not sure on your mic position but if you could place it a bit closer to the centre of the cone, i think everyones preferences are different but thats the only thing thats missing for me with this impulse but saying that its still the best impulse i've heard to date, nice one man.

The files here are already deconvolved. GuitarGodget is making some more with his gear, and deconvolving a test tone + impulse of the same length will probably end up with a null wave file ... the impulse needs a couple of seconds of silence added upon performing the deconvolution.

np noarin.

Not sure about it, but considering that you can use the fx return there should not be a noticeable noise at the beginning of the recorded tone, so I think that you can easily trim the test tone at the right point...

I would say that it will work well even with a bit of silence at the beginning and maybe the impulse created would have that silence too...
