anybody know about this festival

Atlanta Metal Festival in Feb??

Mastodon is headlining and it will be at the Masquerade, plus the Music Park in the back. (That's unusually early for the music park and supposedly they're putting a big tent/covering over it.) According to my old roommate and fellow WREKage deejay Tim Hurd, they are booking a lot of European bands for this.

Sharp-eyed observers will note that the Tyr show that had been scheduled for the Masquerade on the same day has now vanished from their website. We're hoping that it's being folded into the other festivities.

Nachtmystium has this date on their myspace, so I clicked the show details:

Atlanta Metal Festival w/NEUROSIS, TORCHE, BORIS, MASTODON, CRYPTOPSY, WOLVES IN THE THRONE ROOM, TOXIC HOLOCAUST, and more!!!
Holy hell this is awesome.

Rwake has 2/28 Atlanta on their myspace too.

That's a pretty shitty lineup. Its a lineup of bands that regularly enough seem to come through. But there are a couple I'd like to see. Just not what I think of when I think festival.

I strongly disagree. Neurosis rarely plays shows at all, let alone down in Atlanta. Wolves in the Throne Room have played here once, ever. Boris always plays at the 21+ club. Toxic Holocaust has been here twice in the past year, but that's because they just signed with Relapse. Nachtmystium hasn't played here since he beginning of 2007. Torche and Mastodon play here a good bit...but they're from Atlanta.

Supposedly 1349, High on Fire, and Eyehategod (YES!) have been added to this.

As soon as this goes on sale, I'll be buying a ticket.

I don't have a lot of material from a bunch of the bands, but I've been waiting to see Wolves in the Throne Room for awhile. Just checked out Torche and they're good. And obviously Suidakra if the tour is getting merged into this.

THIS IS FREE

Anyone who doesn't like that lineup just doesn't like good music.

Seriously, fucking KRALLICE?!?! Baroness? Wolves in the Throne Room!!

Also, add Septicflesh, Converge, and Pig Destroyer to that list.

I know most of the bands but don't have any Neurosis (except Souls at Zero), Boris, Nachtmystium, Kylesa, Zoroaster, Rwake, or Salome. Any recommendations?

Neurosis - Through Silver in Blood
Boris - Amplifier Worship
Nachtmystium - Assassins, although that's pretty different from their other material. Instinct: Decay is really good too.
Kylesa - Kylesa
Zoroaster - can't choose between their EP and their full length. Both are really good.
Rwake - Voices of Omens

don't know Salome
