Anyone at Maryland Death Fest?

Well, I had a ticket and was more than prepared for the 12 hour drive....but then Cynic cancelled and that ticket became worthless to me.

No disrespect to the bands who did play (it would have been almost worth it to see Psycroptic  ) but I couldn't justify the drive for no Cynic.

I'm going to be uber pissed if they don't book some US dates when they get back from the Euro festivals!

And I'm sure that they gave shit right back to you with their performance. :heh:

Seeing as I'm half a spade, I don't dig it either. The racist stuff doesn't bother me in the slightest...What gets me is when someone (usually a piss poor dirtbag) actually thinks that they are better than someone else or when a man goes out of his way to try and insult another man. Humans in general are not a cool species, and most intelligent people realize that. Being offended by words is overrated.

Many moons ago, I partied with these guys on their Stillborn tour...Even bought the first round of drinks for everybody. While we were doing the "cheers" thing with our shotglasses, Phil said "Someone should go get ____ (the bassist/new vocalist - forgot the douches name). He'll get a kick out of this!" So along comes this dude. I try and hand him a shotglass and he looks at me and says with a nervous voice, "That's alright". Fully expecting this response, I kept staring him in the eyes while I pounded the shot. I'm not the nicest looking person in the world, and he was A LOT smaller than he looked on stage. He scooted away in a rather odd fashion and the rest of the band looked at me and started cracking up. We kept drinking and had a really good time for the next hour or so! I think dude knew that I was just waiting to hear some crazy shit come out of his mouth in order to make it a little harder for him to speak next time.

Thats a new one on me. I usually get "Oreo", "Half and Half", or my fav "Peanut Butter" baby. Though actually, I am a chameleon and blend with any race...aside from maybe asian.

I got the spade thing from an early 70's British music mag commentating about Hendrix. You forgot "zebra" and "salt and pepper". Most folks think I'm Hawaiian or Samoan. That's why only really drunk dudes start shit with me. Lol.

Dude, I totally got that when I went to Hawaii in '05. I had vacationers asking me directions and where the good stores where. But yeah, its funny, the most racist/ignorant people really don't like confrontation unless their sauced up.

Haha, that story rules!! You're fucking tough.

Didn't realize they were racists -- is it in the lyrics or are they public about it?

Not public about it at all. In the song They Breed they had the words "You Fucking my pals" at the end, but they weren't printed in the lyric sheet. The guy who wrote that isn't in the band anymore. They don't apologize for it, they just keep quiet. And there are a lot of little things they do that make you wonder if they are still racist. They sure talked a lot of shit about the neighborhood that the Sonar club was in, and it had to do with the people that lived there (95% homeless black people).
