Anyone else sickened by corporate stock PR photos?

I never said they were ruining the world, only that I'm sickened by them. By extension, I guess you could argue that they are symptomatic of the dogmas and entities which are great contributors to negative aspects of the world.
If I were to distill my contention down into a simple point it would read something like:
Because the link between the stock photos and the products and entities they represent is not only tenuous, but also plays into the deception of humanizing what are effectively faceless, profit-driven entities. They serve solely as another layer of facade for a stock-driving empire to pacify and disarm a potential client.
Ultimately, having 4 different bitches smiling vacuously on various promotional pamphlets, documents and cases in no way relates to me buying accounting software, nor to the fact that every one of these additional documents is a not-so-subtle ploy to entice one to purchase extension services such as training courses, online off-site backups, additional licenses etc.

@ Ermz: I understand that you don't need stock photo pictures on products to sway your opinion...to buy or not to buy a product. For people that know how to think for themselves, this doesn't matter. Unfortunately (but fortunate for stock photographers 
) a lot of people do need to see these things. Case in point: my wife and I have been looking at houses for some time now. While we don't care how a house is arranged or "staged", if they have too many pictures on the wall, if the walls are painted neutral colors, etc., we know that we are only interested in the size/layout of the rooms. We can see past all the personal things of the current owner. We're not buying their furniture or curtains (though we love to criticize people's tastes lol). However, many people cannot seem to see past this. They will only become interested if things look nearly picture perfect. I'm not saying this is good or acceptable. Just, in general, people are just idiots. 
That being said...I still like the idea of stock photography. A good stock photographer anticipates what potential clients may want or need, and will just shoot a bunch of these types of pictures. You don't actually work for someone. You just take whatever, whenever you want. Plus, the technical challenges of getting the lighting and composition just right, and to make things look appealing. That's why I like it.

Being bothered by manipulative corporate advertising is something to be proud of.
It's all very nice and post-modern just to laugh at these things, but ignoring the manipulation and power structures is irresponsible.
(which is not to say that you do ignore them, i suspect i'm responding to a much more extreme apathetic viewpoint than you have!)

nah, I don't ignore them ... as I said, I recognize them for what they are and while it can be annoying when the same cliche is not just played out but seemingly accepted, I also can't think of a time where a stock photo / ad / commercial bothered me so much that I wasted more than a minute's irritated dwelling on it. Every Swiffer ad shows a woman doing the cleaning. Every television provider commercial with a guy mentions how great the sports package is.
Well guess what, I fucking hate sports (except boxing) and do as much cleaning as my wife. And cooking. In fact, I'm the better cook. I do understand and agree with you to some extent though
what does bother me is the veiled reverse racism / sexism that seems to permeate all of these devices. As per my joke earlier, if the one pic had been from here, chances are you would see the "black friend" and the "asian counterpart" ... just as in 90% of all commercials on tv. The same can be said for movies, or at least most hollywood movies
