Anyone ever remove damper noise from a piano track?

So I recorded this pianist doing a tune of mine last week, and the performance is great except for just a couple of damper pedal drops that are uncomfortably audible. Anyone solved this problem before? I figure I'm probably going to automate-EQ them out during the milliseconds that they occur in but I wanted to know if anyone had a better solution

if volume automation doesn't work, just leave it there.

Seconded. For me, a little bit of pedal noise is one of those natural, incidental sounds that accompanies a "real" piano recording and indicates that the part was performed on a physical piano (as opposed to the virtual acoustic pianos that a lot of bands have to settle for due to budget, time constraints, etc.). I guess the sound can be good or bad depending on the nature of your project. I wouldn't automate them out completely.
