WHOA!!! First thing resembling the ultra-amazing and mega-fantastic Draconian Times from 17 freaking years ago!!!! They were coming back to that and I think they are closer than ever here! Glenn, how about a little Goth in your Progpower?? :headbang::headbang::headbang:

Let me re-phrase..."boring as shit" set.

That sucks to hear. PL are one of the best doom bands ever...even if they don't quite play doom any more. But they could redeem themselves. I've seen a tepid Katatonia performance, but their show on the Opeth tour was flat out awesome.

Have you guys ever seen any other doom metal bands play? Did you think they came off boring as well? Just curious. Because I actually like the low-energy performance of some bands. It's part of the atmosphere.

I've seen some death/doom bands play with no front lighting whatsoever, and never address the crowd. Just come in, play your songs and get off stage. It's quite moving if you're prepared for it.

I've seen lots of doom bands. It's pretty easy since GA in general is a hotbed for the stuff. Some really great acts, some ok, and some garbage. Paradise Lost was definitely in that 3rd category. I'd write it off as an 'offnight' but heard the same thing from people who attended other shows on that tour, too.

For what it's worth, the one time I saw Katatonia, I thought they were pretty boring too. Definitely overshadowed by Daylight Dies and Moonspell.

Last time I saw PL was last year and despite an ok performance there was no spark at all in the band. I think it's just them though. They are your regular sarcastic Northern bastards and Nick would never miss a chance to be ratty from the stage. However their recent records have all been great for me.

Did any you catch them opening for Nightwish last time around? It wasn't exactly the greatest live energy show I have seen...

I remember hearing about their live show about 10 years ago or so, and that it was one of the worst live performances ever seen from a metal band.

Regardless, they're one of my favorites.
