Many of the comments I heard were along the lines of "no variation", "every song sounded the same", "put me to sleep with their repetitiveness" - see a pattern? But like I said, I enter every band for the first time w/ an open mind, so I'll letcha know...

they're so fast it's kinda hard to do so

I can see that happening with many brutal death metal bands. A lot of what you can hear on a CD cannot be replicated live. It's exactly what's got me concerned about seeing Nile live. They're so complex (and one of my fave DM bands) they're bound to lose something live. But back to Origin, is there a decent place I can hear some non-live tracks?

I really like them, their live show was great, but I can see how some people think their songs all sound the same. Pretty much any time you hear any band for the 1st time, this can happen. Especially with brutal or technical bands like Origin, Cryptopsy, Suffocation, Gorguts, etc. Trust me, Origin is a good band IF you like brutal or technical death metal. Others might be turned off by the lack of "catchiness" of the songs. But, if you want some great technical metal, Origin is your band.

i purposly missed them when i saw AE last week. then i left before nile too. ive seen nile before. its a fucking mess. chaotic noise.

That's too bad neal. I fucking love Nile. They're without a shadow of a doubt my favorite band to smoke the green too... :Smokedev:

And I checked out some Origin on that site (thanx ct_thrash) - sounds pretty good, I'm looking forward to the show even more now.

just not my thing. i find that kind of DM really boring. and i dont like gutteral grunting vocals a la chris barnes etc. sounds like animals barking. i just cant take it seriously. but i also enjoy the metal and the green simultainiously. thats somthin eh? hehe.

I caught Origin opening for Dying Fetus in Albany about a year ago. They kicked ass, but I missed them at the Nile show a few days ago.

By the way, Dying Fetus is one of the best live bands I've ever seen.. as soon as they start playing the ENTIRE ROOM TURNS INTO A PIT. Holy fuck, that was complete armageddon. The only band that comes close to that was Skinless. Two awesome bands. Too bad Jason Netherton left DF, pretty much ensuring the best album to suck.

MISERY INDEX!

hell yeah! Skinless!!!!! RIVERS OF GORE!! RIVERS OF GORE!!! Oh yeah, don't forget to slip on your absorbent undergarments!!

Origin i do not like....

I give DF alot of credit they are actually a really talented band... their new drummer is the shit!!! I have not yet seen a DF show , but hopefully More good DM/BM bands will come to buffalo...

I saw a clip of them and yes it looked fuckin crazy!

Dying Fetus, man, there's a death metal band with talent. And yes, they are truly awesome live. I got to see the on my birthday a couple of years ago (with Destruction, who were entirely blown of the stage by Dying Fetus boys) and it was great.

So, IS Misery Index any good? I'm definitely curious, given who's in the band.
