Anyone here from Las Vegas?

I'm considering spending 2-3 weeks in Las Vegas in June. Playing poker is not allowed in Norway so I'll have to pack my suitcase... I've never been there - is anyone on this forum living in Vegas? I'd like to see more than casino walls... (meaning I'll take maybe as much as a 10 minute break from poker each day.) Any suggestions?

Sounds fun, maybe someone on this forum has been to Vegas and has been in casinos and can give you advice on everything. I'm not much on lottery tickets, but card playing has always been fun.

I would hate to live in Las Vegas to be honest, but visiting would be cool so you're in line to have a great time, hopefully you find someone to hang out with there it makes a trip more enjoyable if you meet up with a friend. And I will just say, there's casinos here in Canada man and if you're ever near here we're going out and partying it up.

Asgeir,

I have friends of mine that go to Las Vegas all the time. (It's a major attraction for Seattlites - we need our hot and sun). If you want, I can ask them what/where they recommend.

Just a... thought. If you're going just for poker, by all means, go for broke in Vegas. But if you want to also do other things, you could stay in Northern California, maybe San Francisco or the Bay Area in general. Make a couple of trips to Vegas, like a few days stay half a dozen times during a 3 week period, go back to NoCal to recover with Napa Valley wine or San Francisco sourdough...

I mean, depends on your budget, but I imagine you must have some cash or some proficiency in poker if you're to survive 2-3 weeks in Vegas anyway.

I just got back from Vegas(Sin City) didn't stay long spent most my time in the mountains of california. I did meet the hottest chick in Vegas, had the time of my life. You have to be careful in Vegas, it will take all your money if you don't be careful. They also have the best hookers for a good price legal! If you go in though you either come out broke or Rich, but at least an easy place to get laid.

Don't care for hookers but I'll look out for that hot chick's sister(s).

Please do! Any advice on what they DON'T recommend is welcome too. Vegas has probably a zillion offers of "cool" things to do...

Clothes are a lot cheaper in US than Norway (for example, Levi's is like half the price). Any malls better than others?

...and where to go for shopping music instruments???

I'll probably live in or very close to the strip.

Yeah I think it is Las Vegas, or at least just Arizona. I just remember him mentioning how much he prefers it over Norway.

For the record, Las Vegas != Arizona. Totally same climate, totally different culture.

And if you go to the Bay Area, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art has some great phoography exhibits going on right now. I was there just two weeks ago. Man, too bad you're not coming to Seattle, the sunny season is just starting!

I can't believe I said Arizona instead of Nevada.

The nearest casino here is in Tunica, Mississippi, I remember my Dad telling me he went there and lost about 40 $ or so, and that the Black Jack games there were especially close, and he lost. So if Asgeir gets lost in the Southeast he should go there to gamble. :p It's where all the locals here go for gambling since most of us never have the money for big trips like Las Vegas.
