Anyone here?

I hear this all the time but I'm highly sceptical of the research that led to this conclusion. How the fuck can they work out how many spiders a person eats in their sleep in a 'lifetime'?!

I bet there are heaps of people out there who have never eaten a spider in their sleep. Like Eskimos. Does that mean that the next guy, say in Melbourne, has devoured 16??

And what kind of spiders are we talking about here? Does a larger spider qualify for more than a small one? What if I ate one of those bird-eating monstrosities? Do I then have to eat 7 little dots of spiders to reach the average?

I think more research is needed, quite frankly.

you've definitely got a point there, requiem... i mean, if you're in a colder climate, many fewer spiders to be eaten... and anyway, how the hell did they perform this research, even assuming some sort of 'average'? videotape thousands of people sleeping? examine feces for spider remains? i really can't see how scientifically accurate results could have been obtained.

maybe there's cameras all around us checking how many bugs we eat at night. I think the aliens are conducting this research

Actually, I don't, that's not something I want proved conclusively

You're just afraid of the results from New Zealand... I hear it's twice the planet's average.
