Interesting....More of a straight ahead, basic hard rock sound...

I liked both MC releases (The Great Divide and Liberation). The Little Bird EP is more in the vein of the Soulfractured material.

Sadly, they had changed their muscial style after Liberation.... saw it on their website.... they lost the original drummer and got some 16 year old 'prodigy' kid who was supposed to be great.

THEN they got the original drummer back but they still were going in a 'new direction' with their music....

I didn;t like the clips then and haven't listened to the new ones.....

Altura - disappeared off the PLANET after their debut on Magna Carta

Divine Regale - Band fractured apart after Ocean Mind - they lost the lead singer and were working on a new CD (I actually downloaded a demo of a great song from their website years and years ago) but that never happened and they disappeared

Ice Age - see above

Digital Ruin - very awesome band - Dwelling in The Out was sweet... after years of seraching, I finally found their out of print privately financed first album LISTEN - a concept album that was quite original and ballsy to come out of the gate with when you didn't have a major recording contract. I can;t play Listen enough and it is in my top list of fav concept albums.

Dali's Dilemma - I just plain loved the HELL out of their debut album in 99...... still kicks ass......

Altura and Divine Regale, wow! Those bands are sadly forgotten about by most others. They put out a couple of GREAT albums. Better than most of the stuff I'm stumbling across these days. The band Clockwork was another one. Their demo EP was good, their debut was great, and they had amazing potential.

I was a big Ice Age fan. Whether you wanted terrific ballads like "One Look Away" or lengthy prog metal numbers like "Llasa Road", they could put together some great compositions. I got that EP of theirs once they reformed and changed directions, but didn't hear the same knack for melodies.

Just found this thread while searching for anything Ice Age might have done since Liberation. Who'd have thought I'd end up back at UM!

ARK and Lemur Voice are other bands I'd add with the likes of Dali's Dilemma and Ice Age as having expired long before their due (let's face it, Sun Caged is awesome but just not the same...)

If any of you are interested there's a few awesome Aussie prog bands doing the rounds at the moment: Friar Rush, Voyager and Transcending Mortality, the latter of whom actually have a forum here on UltimateMetal.com.

I'd actually forgotten all about Enchant as well Have they done anything since Tug Of War yet?

Wow! This *is* an old thread! Glad it came back though since I missed the first time. Man, Dave you hit so many good bands that I have CDs from! The only band I don't own a CD from is Digitial Ruin but had a couple of clips years ago that I enjoyed. I also saw them at Powermad Festival in Baltimore back in 2000, but they had already started to change their style by then. Out of all those, I was huge fan of Divine Regale, I own Ocean Mind and even saw these guys open for Fate's Warning on the Pleasant Shade of Grey tour. I used to rock my youngest to sleep listening to Ocean Mind.

Another of my favorites in your list was Dali's Dilemma! What a great CD they released -- I have listened to that thing so many times! Interestingly enough, I discovered them on the same site I discovered Enchant, Zero Hour, and Symphony X. I even have some demo MP3s from before the CD (some of the same songs) but it was when they were called Chaos Theory. It only appears that the keyboardist, Matt Guillory, ever went on to do anything. He was on the Zero Hour's original EP and also worked with LaBrie on his various solo releases.

There were some awesome demos floating around under their previous name Chaos Theory. They have a different singer on those. They had to change their name because some other group had copyrighted the name Chaos Theory. Damn, I wish I still had those demos. Unfortunately, they were on my old computer that has long since been recycled.

You guys know that Enchant's very own Sean Flanegan used to beat the skins for Dali's Dilemma, right?

. . . Well as far as my past musical adventures, I guess the first proper band I was in was Chaos Theory, which is now Dali's Dilemma. I had a great time in that band with Matt Guillory on keys and Steve and Pat Reyes on bass and guitar respectively. Amazing players and great guys. . . (Source)
